"Elsa!" Anna shouted as she jumped to the side. She tripped and fell over as shards of ice shredded the sleeve of her gown.
"Sorry! I'm sorry!" Elsa exclaimed as she held her hands out apologetically to Anna. This was the third time today that she was trying to decorate the castle with ice, only to have a different effect than she had originally desired. She looked down at her hand and shook her head as the frost radiated from it.
"Elsa, what's going on? I thought you had a better grasp on your powers." Anna stood and hurried to her sister's side, ignoring the state of her dress.
"I don't know. I haven't had any real issues until now. There have been simple problems, but nothing that could've hurt you." Elsa closed her hand to stop the frost.
Anna reached out and placed her hand on top of Elsa's. "Remember to focus on love."
Elsa gave her sister a small smile and placed her other hand on Anna's. "Thank you. It does help, but I feel as though I need to do something other than just turning my powers on and off. There has to be something more to mastering my magic."
Anna's brow furrowed in contemplation. Elsa started giggling at the strange shapes that the lines on Anna's forehead made as Anna had a silent conversation with herself.
Anna looked up, "What's so funny?"
"Nothing," giggled Elsa. After Elsa's giggles had settled, her eyes looked out of the nearby window. "I cannot practice my powers in the castle. I couldn't hurt anyone like I hurt you." She took her sister's hand. "Going up to the mountain would be much too difficult while trying to rule the kingdom."
Anna glanced up at her sister. "What about traveling and finding a teacher? You know, someone that might be able to help you." Anna chirped.
Elsa blinked a few times as she pulled herself from her thoughts to focus on what her sister was saying. "What do you mean? I cannot just leave a kingdom behind, Anna. My duty as queen of this kingdom is to-" Anna held up her free hand, "Is to take care of your people. How can you do that when you're struggling to keep your powers under control? I can't bear the thought of closing the castle again, Elsa. I just can't go through that again. You need to get some help so that your worries and focus can be on the people rather than your powers. You can't be the only one out there with magic like this. I can take care of everything until you're ready to return, as long as you promise to keep in touch and send me letters and chocolate." Anna took Elsa's other hand and held both hands close to her chest and squealed, "This is so exciting!
"That's a big decision that we would have to think about before jumping into it, I would have to teach you how to answer the royal letters, and address the nation, and-"
"Oh, Elsa, you'd think I was a bumbling idiot or something." Anna waved a hand in the air as if batting the idea away. "I've been watching you, and not to mention, mother and father gave me the same princess training before they…" She trailed off as what she was about to say dawned on her.
Elsa placed her hands on her sister's shoulders. "Oh Anna, I know… I miss them too. But like I said, I can't just leave the kingdom…"
Anna's eyes welled with tears and she lowered her head. "It's because you don't trust me to run the kingdom, isn't it?" She released Elsa's hands and turned away. "It's ok, I understand that I'm not the most elegant or queenly…"
Elsa let her arms fall to the side in defeat. "Alright… It'll take several weeks of preparation before I can leave everything."
Anna spun around grinning, all signs of tears gone, "You mean it? I'll be queen while you're gone?" She squealed and wrapped her arms around her sister tightly. "Thank you so much, Elsa!"
Elsa let out a slight grunt as Anna grabbed her tightly, "Ok, ok, may I breathe again?" She croaked.
"Oh, sorry!" Anna stepped back and smoothed the front of her dress with a big smile on her face.
"Let's get you ready for the new responsibilities that you'll be taking over." Elsa took Anna's arm in hers and they walked out of the room.

O-O-O-O-O
Elsa grabbed another teetering stack of papers that she had been neglecting and steadied I only to freeze the papers into a pillar of procrastination. She huffed and looked at her hands. It had been a few weeks since her and Anna talked about her powers and they didn't seem to be getting better. She plopped down in her chair in a very informal way. Anna had left about an hour ago to do "something queenly" as she so elegantly put it. Elsa wondered what was going on. There was a soft knock at the study door.
"Come in." She called out while returning her quill to the jar.
"Hey, your highness," smiled as he entered the room and closed the door behind him. "Are you busy?"
"Not at all," Elsa lied, "Anything for my brother-in-law."
"Anna told me about the complications that you are having with your powers." He flopped himself into the chair in front of Elsa's desk and shimmed into a slouching and more comfortable position. Elsa noted to let his governess know to teach Kristoff how to sit. Kristoff was a wonderful man to Anna and Elsa wouldn't trust anyone else with her. However, he was a prince now and he was lacking in some of the skills needed in a royal setting.
Elsa folded her hands on the desk in front of her, "I am."
Kristoff shrugged, "Have you gone to talk to my family?" Elsa furrowed her brow, she remembered the references to the trolls being his family but she only had memories of them from when she was a child.
"I have not," she tilted her head slightly, "Why do you ask?"
Kristoff shrugged his shoulders, "I figured that since they helped in the past, maybe they could help again." He rubbed his palms on his lap. Elsa wondered why Kristoff was so nervous. Was he just getting use to her being queen? It had been several months since she was crowned.
"You don't have to be nervous around me. I'm not going to hurt you with my powers." Elsa gave a soft concerned laugh as she stood.
Kristoff gave a small smile and stood with her, "It's not that, your highness," he says practicing the new title. He chuckled nervously
"Then what?" Elsa asked with slight concern.
"I need to be going," He jabbed a thumb towards the door," Anna's expecting me. But give visiting my family a thought, will ya?" Elsa wrapped her arms around herself and nodded slightly. Kristoff scurried out of the room. Elsa lowered herself down into her seat. "I wonder why he was acting so strange." Elsa asked herself before she went to return to her letters. When she picked up the quill, it was stuck inside a frozen jar of ink. Elsa let out a sigh of frustration and pushed her chair away from her desk. She strolled down the halls glancing out at the distant forests beyond the castle walls. Kristoff and Anna were acting very strange. She remembered Kristoff pointing the forest in the distance and telling her that's where the trolls were.
"They did help me once, I'm sure they could help me again." She whispered 's words. She turned and dashed down the halls to the stables, grabbing her gloves and a cloak on her way. Once she found her horse, she raced off towards the forest.
