14AmyChan: okay, this was nagging at me in the back of my head, bbegging to be written

Mai: AmyChan doesn't own Ghost Hunt!

She was in the office again, sitting around and doing nothing. She was immensely bored, but knew better by now not to let either Lin or Naru know. Naru would give her more work and Lin would shoo her out of his office before telling Nsru, who would-as we've already established-give her more work. So, with an empty office and no relief in sight, Mai remained absolutely bored.

She knew she could not be caught sleeping on the job, so she had to do something to stave off the boredom. She had already played "I Spy" with miscellaneous office supplies, constricted and torn down a beautiful house of cards, and even done her filing for that day. She had even finished her homework! So now, there was pretty much nothing to do except to stare off into space.

Usually, this level of boredom came with the certain privilege of wondering. Letting her mind roam about whatever it chose. Sometimes it thought about the local stray cat that stayed at her apartment complex. Occasionally it drifted off to happy memories, reserved for reminiscing on a boring and otherwise droll day. Once or twice she had found herself thinking of chores she should complete upon returning home. Today, however, she thought it would be more prudent to think of something more...interesting. But what?

Her eyes soon landed on the door to her boss's cave. Wonder about Naru? An interesting proposition, to be sure, but she had already wondered most everything she could about him. Where did all that tea go? When had he started Ghost Hunting? What was his family like? Were he and Masako really together, or could she possibly have a chance?

I wonder what it would be like to kiss him... Mai suddenly thought. Not even a moment had passed before her face turned completely scarlet and she averted her eyed from the cave door. Where had that thought come from? That was completely uncalled for!

And yet, she could not distract herself from the thought. It began to slowly plague her. Would Naru be really good at it, or completely amateur? Would he be the one in control, or would it be a fight for dominance? What would it feel like, to have his lips on hers? Would there be those legendary "sparks" that she keeps hearing about? Would they take it fast, or go slowly? She hoped-if they ever got there-it would be the latter.

The thoughts continued to swirl in her mind, earning every ounce of her curiosity and concentration. As she thought, she turned her face towards the window and bit her own lip as the thoughts swirled in her mind. A couple of hours passed her by as she was lost in thought, and only one thing seemed to be able to jolt her from her musings.

"I've called for tea five times, Mai," a stern voice snapped, snapping the girl from her thoughts. Quickly-and with much embarrassment-Mai turned to see the person of her thoughts glaring at her, his mouth formed into an irritated frown. Mai wanted to bristle at the sight of that condescending look, but knew all too well that she had been squandering her work day daydreaming of things she ought not to have. Instead, she frowned as a blush painted her cheeks and as she huffed her way to the kitchen, making herself feel better by accusing her boss of narcissism and tea addictions.

From that day onwards, it had become a bit of a nervous tic for her to bite her lip.
