A/N: This drabble is based on a friend of the family and her children, except they're human. Any of you still waiting on the next chapter for Dopplegänger, I'm still working on it, just trying figure out what my new OC is like and how I should write him in the story. I hope this little drabble keeps you happy 'till then. I do not own Legacy of Kain or its characters; they belong to Eidos and Crystal Dynamics. The story is mine, and is only intended for entertainment purposes only. Enjoy!

It was nearly sunrise; Kain decided Raziel was old enough to start learning how to hunt for himself. As Raziel is still a fledgling, he would have to keep him under close observation as he feeds. Just like a human child, a vampire fledgling needs more nutrition than an older vampire as his basic abilities and powers are still developing. There aren't many vampires left in the world, and aren't under too much of a threat at this time, but Kain knew they still had to be careful when it comes to feeding.

Kain and Raziel were standing in an alleyway, where Raziel had stalked his prey and fed. Kain noticed how much of a mess his child had left, but pushed that note aside as it was his first hunt. The humans wouldn't notice as there was already so much blood on the walls, from where the humans would murder other humans; either for being a bad wife, deals going wrong, bar fights, etc. Kain thought to himself, 'We must only feed to survive now. Such a shame the humans must kill each other for such foolish reasons.'Raziel has finished the last droplet of blood from his prey's body and dumped him on the ground. Kain saw the sun was rising, "We must leave now, child. The sun is rising, and we must not risk getting caught."

"But, Father. I still need to feed." Raziel whined.

"You'll live. We need to go now." Kain's tone was firm, which caused Raziel to just hang his head and follow. They passed by the pub on the way home, and the fledgling could hear voices among glass being broken and other noises. Curiously, Raziel went to look through the window to see what was happening. Kain stopped him just before he got to the window, pulling him away, "Don't look in there, there's been a terrible massacre!" He quickly lied. Raziel gave him a look that said, 'I don't believe you.'"You don't want to interfere with another vampire, you're still young; that would be a death sentence for you." He lied again, only about the vampire, but having no choice as Raziel was often difficult to deal with. But, Kain was sometimes amazed at what youngsters would believe, and found great amusement with his son. He knows of course that as Raziel gets older, he will mature from his fledging brain and not believe a lot of what he will say, and will possibly do the same with his own vampire fledglings in the future.

Raziel knew that facing another vampire at a young age would be fatal for him, especially as his basic abilities were not fully developed yet. Also knowing that there weren't many vampires around and not knowing any others aside from Kain, he decided not to be foolish and take a risk in case it was true. He sighed, lowering his head, feeling like a failure, walking towards his father. "Good boy." Kain said, leading Raziel home. He chuckled slightly, as Raziel growled in response.

'I swear, sometimes it's like looking after a human child...'

A/N: This had been playing on my mind for a while. Forgive me, if it's a bit sloppy, I haven't written anything in a while. Please review and tell me what you think? I asked nicely!
