Summary: Her connection with "betrayal" was not her fault. It was just destiny…

The Feeling Called Betrayal

By: Firey Princess of Mars

Chapter 1

Betrayal…was such a feeling truly just destined to her? Or was it just coincidence. But if it was just coincidence, why would it only happen to her. Takani Megumi never quite understood the fact. How come she was the only one whom the garbage was thrown to? All the junk and bad stuff always had her name on it. It seemed as if her essence was engraved on every single thing that was considered to be awful. But what she felt to be the most regrettable was to be forever connected to a feeling known as betrayal.

She often convinced herself to believe that all of the happenings in her life was just "luck". Even though she knew that this was not true, she liked to cover up the truth just to ease the pain in her broken spirit. Yet there was no success in a futile attempt such as this one. For there was no such thing as "luck". Luck was something that only children would accept as true. It was just an illusion people used to either shield their emotions or to show them. If there was ever anything that could be used to explain her twisted life it would be fate itself.

Fate, unlike luck, was real. There was no denying it. To refuse its existence in the world would be more than just foolish. Some people were born with handicaps and others were introduced to the world with the power of genius. It was just…fate. There was nothing you could do about it. Yet, when one is given things so cruel and seen things more horrible than any mortal can imagine, you must wonder why this must be. Perhaps it was something that you had done in your past life? Or maybe it was just because a being such as yourself existed. Possibly, that in itself could pose a threat to fate. The true question is, why Takani Megumi?

Takani Megumi had committed many wrongs. But as true as that was, everything that she had done was forced upon her. She had never been given a choice for if she had, the evil acts would have never happened. Yet destiny chose betrayal, the cruelest feeling in life to be her partner. Why it did is not known. Perhaps it never will be. But what is known is that fate did not forgive her for her crimes. It was as simple as that. Takani Megumi was to be forever stripped of her freedom to feel happy.

Being betrayed so many times had taken that feeling away. All she knew was that happiness was something that was supposed to be warm and loving. You see, happiness was nothing more than a faint memory that had been stolen from her. It was something that she could not recall. If you asked if she deserved such a heartlessly decided punishment, the answer would be no. Yet, if you requested to know why she would receive such a sentence if she did not deserve it, the question could not be answered. Only the gods could give a complete response to that question.

A/N: This is my second fic. I know, I know. I didn't finish my first fic (The Girl of Sorrow) yet. I'm really sorry for that. I just lost that feeling I had when I first started writing it so I decided to start this one. But don't worry because I promise that I'll continue writing both stories, though I might switch back and forth ever so often. .
