Hi Everyone! It's been a while since I've done anything on here and I'm really sorry. I've got severe writer's block! Anyway, this very small scene is dedicated to those that wrote reviews for my very first fanfiction chapter of "The Best is Yet to Come". I don't plan on extending it but please review with a mind for constructive criticism. Flames don't count!
Disclaimer: I do not own anything of Sailor Moon. I only use the characters for the non-profitable benefit of fellow fans of this beautiful animé.
The Promise
"Mamo-chan…"
The day was too much for Usagi. The drive home seemed long. Both Mamoru and Usagi sat in the car musing without a sound over the past events. The Doom Tree, Ali and En, Sir Moonlight Night…
A single tear weaved its way down her porcelain face.
"Usako? What's wrong?"
"Mamo-chan…" Usagi breathed, sniffed a little and quickly wiped her face with the back of her hand.
"I'm fine." She smiled weakly.
Usagi hadn't realised the vehicle had ceased its motion. The car was pulled up at the park, but in her moments of contemplation she had failed to notice. Mamoru thought that the serenity of the park provided the peaceful ambience in which they could just be together. They got out of the car and Mamoru led Usagi to a nearby bench.
Usagi tensed. She knew what was about to happen next. No amount of will power could hold the barrage of tears threatening to infiltrate the windows of her soul. Mamoru held her close as the sobs racked her small frame. He could do nothing more but hold her, knowing somehow that was all she needed.

"It's been just weeks since I've got my memory back but I can't help but feel the same way I did that night. I know Luna had to make a quick decision, but I can't help but think that part of me was better left undiscovered. She needed Sailor Moon. She needed me." Usagi paused and turned to look at her love.
"I know it's selfish but as much as I felt initial relief saving Luna and Artemis from the Cardian, I felt nothing but sadness. I love having my friends around again, but I miss being a normal girl: A normal, klutz of a 14-year-old girl. Just Tsukino Usagi…" Usagi voice broke.
"I needed you, Mamo-chan… I wanted to bring you back so badly, but I couldn't, because I didn't know how…" She bowed her head as emotion took over her resolve to cry no more. It broke Mamoru's heart to see her like this. He couldn't understand himself how this could have happened. Luna brought everyone else back, yet to bring him back was something she couldn't do. The grief Mamoru felt stirred him to speak.
"You know, for all that time I did think that there was something between you and I. There was a part of me that needed to be there for you. It was just a feeling, but I was a fool for not paying attention to it. I'm just glad the Moonlight Knight was able to be there for you like I never was…"
Usagi looked up and saw Mamoru's eyes, wet with tears. "Usako… I'm sorry I wasn't there for you, but I promise from now on I will be."
The couple held each other. Mamoru kissed Usagi's head, whilst she held him tightly around his waist.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Mamo-chan."
Please
let me know what you think and review! Small Pink Lady
