Broccoli
Summary: As the broccoli is cooking on the stove, Lucy watches, understanding that the vegetable had feelings while being cooked to its death. Why didn't her family understand?
Disclaimer: I don't own the Loud house. Just a little prompt on Lucy and her desire to save a suffering vegetable from the stove but can't because of her age and parent fears of being burnt.
Broccoli. You could call it the tree of the vegetables. You could call it the leaf tree vegetable. You could call it the vegetable that made you disgusted more than its yellow sibling corn. But to Lucy Loud, it was a friend.
A friend that was going to die. The broccoli to her had feelings. The feeling of happiness was the first she supposed that the broccoli was feeling upon being released from the package it had been held prisoner.
The second feeling was terror upon reaching the stove, feeling itself burn because of the heat, the once joy that the vegetable had felt was melting away quickly.
To why her family wanted broccoli to side with their dinner sickened Lucy. She desired to rescue her beloved friend broccoli. Except there was one problem.
Her mother Rita Loud, a woman who was more of the bright light and not in the darkness like the eight year old, wouldn't allow her near the stove nor would her father Lynn senior.
They say that she would get burnt by the stove if she touched it. Lucy couldn't comprehend why they thought that way when Lori, Leni, Luan, Luna, Lynn, and even Lincoln was allowed to use the fire breather that was killing her beloved friend broccoli.
She guessed that it was because they were older and knew how to handle the fire breather that was killing her beloved friend broccoli.
Or was there an actual harm in rescuing broccoli from its dinner doom? Lucy didn't know and frankly she wished she could know why but as she watched broccoli being cooked to where it just laid there, not one expression appearing on its leafy face, Lucy wanted to scream.
Whoever had cooked her beloved friend had killed him. Broccoli had feelings despite only being a source of healthiness. He wanted to stay fresh, to live among the other vegetables that lived in the Loud family refrigerator.
Broccoli couldn't live with the other vegetables unfortunately, leaving Lucy more gloomy than she was normally.
Everyone else in the family would enjoy the dead vegetable in front of the plates mixed in with other foods that had its place in various groups except for a saddened Lucy who had desired to save her beloved leafty friend that meant no harm.
Alas broccoli for you were barely known to be a friend of anyone but Lucy who was filled with deplore for not saving you from your death.
Rest sweet prince on a plate for your time on the stove was over now and Lucy will still never eat you because to her broccoli you had feelings like anybody else.
