The Words That Hurt Worst

They never hurt like you did. Your words stabbed with a silver blade. A well-worded, grammatically correct tongue delivered the words that would hurt most.

From their mouths:

Monster. Demon. Beast. I wish he were dead.

None of those hurt as much as your words.

From your mouth:

Usurakontachi. Dobe. Idiot. Baka. Loser. Worthless.

Those never hurt so badly.

Not even when you said: "What will it take to show you I don't care about you?" That you hated me… That you couldn't stand me… That I was repulsive.

I could handle that, but when after all that you said, you promised that you wouldn't leave but you did.

Your drab stone hat stares at me now. Mocking me as you did in your younger days.

So I now follow as I promised that I would do. I said it myself: "If you ever leave I am coming after you, and not coming back until I drag you back."

And so now I fulfill that promise. As knife tears flesh and pain encompasses body. Instead of fearing my fate… I realize that the alternative of staying hear with out you would be far worse… and so now I follow you. Into the realm of death.

The words that hurt me most belonged to the one I loved most. The words that hurt worst were the kindest most thoughtful words I had ever heard you direct in my direction. Even the words as you died, "live and be happy", did not affect me as much as those words did. The words you said with conviction as the light died out of your eyes…simply:

"I love you."
