How sonic and tails met
Rain pounded at the ground as the jet black sky let out a low rumble. And yellow and white fox ran through the dark alleyway with tears in his eyes. He suddenly fell face first onto the wet pavement. Tears still fresh in his eyes; the young fox clutched his twin tails and curled into a small ball to try in vein to keep warm.
"Why does everyone hate me?" the young fox sniffed. "Just because I have two tails why do they have to make fun of me?"
Suddenly a bright flash issued from nearby lightning. Miles let out a low whimper and curled tighter into his little ball.
"Maybe if I stay here long enough I'll finally be able to see my mummy and daddy up in heaven." Another low whimper came from the tails lips at the thought of his mummy and daddy.
"Hey, are you all right buddy?" came a voice through the darkness.
Slowly, Miles looked up. Standing in front of him was a tall blue hedgehog. Tails curled back into a ball and prepared for the blue hedgehog to strike him. But it didn't happen. Again, he slowly looked up at the blue hedgehog.
"Did you hear me? I asked if you were all right." The hedgehog asked again, a sound of worry in his voice.
"p..p..please don't hurt me." The young fox begged.
"What, why would I do that." Asked the confused hedgehog.
"E…everyone else does." He explained.
The blue hedgehog frowned
"but why?"
Miles hesitated, and then turned around to show the hedgehog his twin tails, and again, waited for the hedgehog to strike him. But again, it did not come.
"So, you've got two tails, I think it looks pretty awesome." Said the hedgehog.
Miles stared at him. Was he being serious? Someone actually liked his twin tails?
"Now, how about we get you home? Your parents must be worried sick."
Again, tears filled the fox's eyes.
"m...m...my p...parents died j...just after I was b...b...born." Miles sobbed.
The hedgehog sat down next to him and patted him.
"Well where have you been living all your life?" questioned the hedgehog
"I've been living on the streets; I have nowhere else to go." Miles sniffed.
The blue hedgehog thought for a moment and smiled.
"Well how about you come live with me?"
Miles just stared. Was this all a dream or just a dream come true?
"Well?"
The young fox leapt forward and gave the blue hedgehog the biggest hug he could.
"I…I'll ta…take that as a y…yes." He gasped. "um c…could you let go. I can't b…breath."
The fox let go, still beaming.
"Well I guess we should introduce ourselves. I'm sonic. Sonic the hedgehog." He said, giving thumbs up. "And you are?"
"Miles." the fox muttered "Miles Prower. But everyone call me tails."
"Well hop on Tails, we gotta head home." Said Sonic, bending over.
Tails eagerly jumped on his back as they sped off, away from the rain and dark alleyway.
