The first time they met, she was eleven years old and he was a seventh year.
She thought he was handsome, strong, and kind.
He thought she was a stumbling, sweet, first-year.
Once he graduated, he forgot about her and she nearly forgot about him.
Still, his face sometimes appeared in the back of her mind when she saw one of his brothers and God she'd miss him, which was silly because they didn't ever really talk.
But she could never forget the night she'd got lost, and he led her back to the Gryffindor common room, murmuring words of comfort the whole time.
She couldn't forget that he was so gentle when he told her that she wouldn't be on the Quidditch team that first year, even though she was very disappointed.
She couldn't forget the way his hands would fly across the piece of parchment quickly and efficiently, with power and purpose.
She couldn't forget his smile, so bright against his freckled face.
When she saw him again, after the Final Battle, she was shocked, horrified. His beauty had been mauled away, replaced with scars.
She cried. She cried for the deaths, the misery, but most of all she cried for the loss of his beauty. Her man's beauty.
When she heard footsteps, she didn't stop her tears. She assumed it was just another mourner, trying to find his own place to grieve in private.
Until strong arms wrapped around her middle and began whispering soothing comforts.
She would know that voice anywhere, any time.
It was him.
Even though he was a married man, she collapsed into his body and buried herself deep.
Even though he was a married man, she blinked away her tears and met his beautiful blue eyes.
Even though he was a married man, she tilted her head up so their lips were barely, just barely brushing.
She didn't move after this, giving him the choice. She didn't want to force him into anything, because…dang it, because she loved him.
Even though she was six years younger than he, he kissed her.
Even though she was six years younger than he, he loved her back.
Even though she was six years younger than he, he knew she was his and he was hers and this was all it would ever be for the both of them.
They loved each other…and never stopped.
