"Why? Why does she have to be my wife when I grow up? She looks like an old lady with white hair!" A tiny child yelled impatiently.

"It is part of the tradition in this family to marry a descendant of royalty, and must be childhood friends." A soft voice replied.

"But why her? She and I are completely different! And we definitely aren't childhood friends!" The pink-haired child yelled louder.

"That's why you are going to befriend her now. Come on, let's go talk to her. I'm sure she'll be a fine friend." The soft voice said.

"But Mother-" The pink-haired boy started saying.

"No. You must listen to me, my little prince-to-be." The woman with the soft voice leaned down and kissed the child on the cheek.

Natsu rolled over in his luxurious silk-draped bed.

Tomorrow was the day he was going to get engaged...

To an old hag...

Or so that's how he thought it would be.

Why is this family tradition even necessary?

Can't I just pick my own bride because I'm the king?

Being childhood friends with Lisanna, Natsu slowly grew used to her, but why does she have to be so formal?

So lady-like?

Definitely NOT my type.

Natsu smirked.

Still, Lisanna's a really nice girl...

And if I disobey the rules a few more times...

Mother won't be glad.

Well, actually, she never smiled ever since seven years ago, when my father, Igneel, disappeared.

Natsu gracefully picked up a peeled grape from a golden bowl.

I need to meet some people tomorrow...

If I find someone suitable for me, maybe I'll ditch Lisanna.

I'm sure she only sees me as a friend anyways.

Our feelings will never advance to love.

I'm pretty sure about that, since I never liked her in the first place.

Natsu flicked back his pink hair and lay down.

"Natsu-kun!" A white haired girl came flying out of nowhere and landed on Natsu's back.

"Wh-whaaaa? Oh...it's you, Lisanna-chan. Why are you suddenly calling my name with 'kun' behind it? I'm king!" Natsu declared.

"Says the person who said my name with 'chan' behind it! Hmph!" Lisanna pouted.

Natsu decided to ignore her.

He continued to walk inside the building where the guests were gathered.

"Wait! Natsuuuu~! Wait for me!" Lisanna ran up to him and grabbed his arm, wrapping her arms around it.

Natsu shrugged away from her.

"What?" He turned around.

"You're with me today, right? Natsuuuu?" Lisanna whined.

Such a brat sometimes...

Aren't we both seventeen?

Who whines like this at this age?

"Natsuuu?"

"What?" Natsu replied. "Oh. Yeah...I guess..."

"Then let's go already!"

Lisanna dragged Natsu off.

Clapping...

Applauding...

The people standing below him were all smiling and cheering.

Natsu couldn't stand it.

Why are they all happy for something that doesn't even do them any good?

I mean, it's MY engagement party, why should they care?
