A/N: Hey there readers! Well as some of you may know, the moon tonight (January 29th, 2010) was the brightest full moon of the year! When I saw it at sunset it looked HUGE and REALLY bright. It's still lighting up the night sky quite spectacularly at the moment. It inspired me to write this little drabble. And guess what?? It's RL/SB! I haven't written any of that in FOREVER! So please enjoy, and go look at the moon if you're reading it the same night I post this!
Blue Moon
He tells me it's beautiful tonight, the biggest and brightest he's ever seen it. It lights up the sky like it's daily counter-part, illuminating everything in a soft blue glow that looks ethereal. Nothing that causes so much pain should be allowed to be that beautiful, he says.
The window is wide open, and the pull feels so strong, even with the potion flowing through my veins suppressing the urge. It never takes it away completely, but dims it so that it is bearable. I use the term 'bearable' very loosely, or so he likes to tell me, with his charming grin and hearty chuckle. I almost feel normal when I hear his voice with my stronger-than-average hearing.
"You should see it, Moony. It's really an amazing sight."
I sigh, or huff through my muzzle, rather, and walk up behind him, nudging the palm of his hand with my cold, wet nose. He looks down and smiles, kneeling so that he's closer to my level. He cups my muzzle in his hand, sliding his fingers through the greying fur atop my head and scratching behind my ears affectionately.
"Is it cruel of me to talk to you about how beautiful the moon is when you have to go through this every time it's full? Just think, Moony, next month will be an eclipse. The pull could be delayed the entire night, if it's timed just right. A bit of relief at least, right?"
I nuzzled his careworn hand once more, whimpering in agreement with his statement. Even through the hazy fog the wolf's mind produces, his smile still makes my heart flutter. He kisses me on the top of the head before pulling away and transforming into his Animagus form. He licks my muzzle as he sits close to me, his pitch-black fur in contrast with my tawny and greying fur.
'The moon does look beautiful', I muse from somewhere in the wolf's mind. We sit, staring out at the full, bright moon. Even if the full moon causes me excruciating pain every time it rises, I will always think it's beautiful as long as Sirius is by my side.
A/N:Excruciatingly short, I know, but it was simply a drabble! For those of you waiting for the next chapter of Never Alone, it will be out shortly! Sorry, college is more important right now. Yeah...I said it. School is more important than fan fiction!
...I think I'm going to get murdered in my sleep now...PLEASE REVIEW!
