Captain's Log: Stardate 43567
The Enterprise is traveling through Neutral Zone Territory, there has been no sign of any Romulans as of yet. We are on our way to Teran 5. There is a mining colony there, mining for dilithium crystals. We received an urgent transmission from the planet stating that Romulans have been destroying their mining settlements from orbit.
"Status reports Mr. Chekov." Kirk was pacing throughout the bridge. Wondering where the Romulans could possibly be.
"Shields are fully operational, phasers are ready, engineering reports consistency with the varp drive sir." Chekov's heavy Russian accent bite into his speech with everything he said.
"Uhura, any hailings?"
Uhura responded in her normal calm and sweet voice, "No sir. All hailing frequencies are open."
"Mr. Sulu, what warp are we traveling at?"
"Warp Six Sir."
"Increase warp by one."
Giving the usual response, Sulu said, "Aye sir, Warp Seven."
James T. Kirk, sat down in his chair, as the transport doors opened behind him. Mr. Spock stepped onto the bridge. Kirk swiveled his head around and met Mr. Spock's gaze.
"How are we today Mr. Spock?" Kirk casually asked.
"I am feeling no emotion, as required by Vulcan philosophy, regardless of my human genetics." The half Vulcan always amused Kirk with his replies. They were always either too long and complicated, often calling for a simpler explanation, or too short, calling for more details. It was almost always the former though.
Spock took his seat at the right side of the transport doors.
"We will be arriving at Teran Five in three…two…one." Proclaimed Sulu.
"Thank you Mr. Sulu." Kirk expressed.
"Sir," Uhura called for the captain's attention, "we are being hailed by Teran Five."
"Put it on screen."
"Aye sir"
At the front of the bridge, an image, aroused out of static, showing the face of a worried man.
"Starship Enterprise, the Romulans are near. We fear they will attack again. If they do, we will be forced to take to the mines. If we do, we will be without shelter."
Kirk reassuringly said, "Do not freight, we will stop the Romulans before any damage can be done."
"Thank you Enterprise." And with that, the transmission was cut.
"Keep an eye on the scans, we will have to be quick if we are to stop the Romulans in the act. But remember, under now circumstances are phasers or torpedoes to be fired. Doing so would be an act of war." And with that, Kirk left the bridge for Medical.
