Chryed Crossword
They were sitting next to each other, shoulder tight against shoulder, feeling the warmth and love through their jackets. They hadn't said a word to each other for nearly 25 minutes – they didn't feel the need to. Syed was busy with the crossword in the Metro and Christian was engrossed in the latest songs he'd downloaded to his Ipod. He was in a world of his own and only Syed could feel the beat of his pulse and the faint rocking of his head to the music. The rest of the carriage were oblivious to them, all busy entertaining themselves on the long tedious journey home.
Syed nudged Christian and pulled out his earphones. "Oi, stop that, Lady Gaga does not DO interruptions"
"Person who portrays God-like tendencies. 10 letters?"
"Christian" he answered without a moment's hesitation, smirking and pushing out his chest.
"Very funny, hardy har, excuse me while I barf... Anyway you can't count. Christian is only 9 letters"
"Nah, it's them that made the mistake!"
"You are such a fantasist "
"See, all this getting addicted to crosswords..I never understand half the stuff you say now"
"Fantasist: A dreamer, in this case, someone with an inflated sense of their own amazingness!" He looked at Christian with mock pity and contempt.
Turning to Syed, Christian hissed, a bit louder than he had meant to "Ooh harsh. Well you thought I was pretty amazing last night. In fact, I am sure I heard you scream your appreciation of my amazingness several times". He saw the blush grow and deepen on Syed's face and the dark, lust-filled eyes turn to him and sparkle at the memory. He then felt a kick in the shins and watched with amusement as Syed looked round quickly to see if anyone had heard.
Try as he might to be stern, Syed couldn't conceal a snigger "Do you want a megaphone? That guy at the end of the carriage didn't quite hear you properly. I'm sure he'd be interested in the intimate details of our sex life!"
The two men laughed warmly and lovingly together and entwined their hands. Syed put the paper down and laid his head on Christian's shoulder. "You did enjoy the weekend didn't you?"
"Of course I did, Sy. Strange how someone who is the image of that mother of hers can be so lovely. But then I guess she does also have the sexiest older brother ever to walk the planet".
Syed's heart still missed a beat every time Christian made comments like that. It was still hard for him to believe that this man sitting beside him worshipped him and would do anything for him.
"Shut uuup" he said, smiling and sneaking a brief kiss "It was so good to see Shabs. I miss her and I know Tam does too. He needs some support in that house. She says she knew there was something not right when my letters and calls were more about my great 'friend' Christian than my lovely fiancee Amira. Seems I wasn't as discreet as I thought I was! She said she can tell we're made for each other and thinks you walk on water – deluded fool - and loves that you've made me happy. "
"As I keep telling you, my sweet, just look at me. What's not to praise? She's not a deluded fool, more a woman of good taste – she recognises my godlike status even if you don't. "
He took another kick to the shins for that comment before Syed suddenly sat up, lifted his paper and pen and planted a quick but intense kiss on Christian's lips. "Of course! Thanks honey. I should have got the answer earlier. After all, I live with one."
Christian shot him a confused glance.
" Narcissist." Syed explained. " A person with an excessive and almost godlike interest in and admiration of oneself."
