This was an essay that I had to write in English about Lord of the Flies. Figured that I might as well post it on the site.

This once again is just a way for me to enhance my writing ability.

Warning...this story doesn't make ANY sense if you haven't read the book first.

This is what happened to Jack after he got off of the island.

Notes from the desk of Dr. Terry Bradshaw child pshycologist

WEEK ONE

"Kill the pig kill the pig kill the pig. The men think me mad...I'm not mad... am I Piggy? No... shut up Piggy... one eye... one eye...one eye... We need meat you know... it wont catch itself. Yes yes...the fire... no... we DON'T need it... rescue? you know what will happen...Piggy... shut UP. Its not my fault..." These are a few of the words that I could decipher from Jack's mumbling.

This is my first session with the boy known as Jack Merrridew. Ever since the boys have been rescued from that small island, Jack has calmed down some, but he had lost his mind. He resigned to ranting on about random nothings that we are guessing happened to him while he was on the island. His parents had been so frightened of what their son had become, that they sent him to a high class mental institution where they attempted to visit him every Sunday. He seemed perfectly content, until another boy was brought in...at that point, he would proceed to growl, and claw until he had to be sedated, and taken away. No one really knows what happened on that island... all of the boys either went mad, or silent. But from Jack's ranting, we can assume that terrible things happened to this poor boy.

WEEK TWO

The patient Jack Merridew seems to have some very strange tendencies...he attacks any kind of meat fed to him with any sharp object he can find, he apparently has an imaginary friend named Piggy, and he speaks of rescue as if he is still on the island. Evidence shows that he is becoming increasingly unstable as time goes on. Obviously, he wanted to be rescued quite badly, and now, his mind isn't getting over the shock of getting off the island.

WEEK THREE

Jack has become physically violent, and we have had to restrain him. He is now currently in his room tied down to his bed under drug-induced sleep. Unfortunatley we have had to sedate him because he was somehow making the other patients band together and act out towards the care-givers. For some reason, they were screaming about killing a pig, bashing her in, and cutting her throat...whatever that means. I can see that the months on the island were not kind to Jack Merridew. I will continue my hour long sessions with Jack until I see some improvement, at which point, I will hand him over the the Institutions therapist.

WEEK TWENTY-FOUR

After todays session with Jack Merridew, it has become clear that he is beyond help. He attacked me with a stick that he had somehow sharpened into a deadly weapon. It is obvious that his psyche is beyond repair, which means that he will have to stay at Happy Hills until the day that he expires.
