They did not have much time. The night was always darkest before morning, and with the breaking of sunlight across the horizon, Zoro's watch would be over. Sun up meant their nakama would start moving, and someone would notice Luffy was missing.
There was always something so precious, and yet so erotic about these stolen moments. The thought that someone could possibly find them gave an edge to their games that they never realized was possible. It made the act of love making all the more intense and harder to keep under control.
But time was always so short in moments like these, making it all the more difficult to savor the feelings underneath the carnal desires. Instead of wiggling deep into the warmth of Zoro's arms, Luffy would have to retreat the the cold of his empty hammock. Likewise, Zoro would only have his blanket to keep him company during his post-coital bliss, and not the tender cuddling and kisses of his captain.
Even though the morning light flooding red across the surface of the water was a thrill, when Luffy bit deeply into his hand to muffle his cry as he came in his first mate's mouth, they both wished they had more time to share in the darkness before daybreak.
