Always alone in her position as the watcher of time and of worlds, looking after the intertwining lines that form the fabric of the universe, watching that nobody interferes and breaks a line that might cause the fall of an entire section of the pattern.
He sleeps, but his sleep is never quiet, always interrupted by myriads of situations that are to come. The future has no mystery for him. Life has no surprises either; he knows everything before it even exists. Being the most powerful mage also means being the most solitary one.
When they met, they already knew each other. They had both seen the other through their powers and their predictions. But to know each other truly, in person, was something completely different from every foresight. And something unexpected is always something very welcomed. If the future were as unpredictable from now on, there wouldn't be anything else to wish for. It would be the best present.
And if that also meant they had to remain together, that would be the greatest blessing.
