Beneath the pale moonlight.
A/N and Desclaimer: This fic is based on a roleplay I did with my friend, Snuffles. Alexis is my creation, but Remus, sadly, is not. He belongs to the all mighty and powerful J.K.R. Also, if you haven't read OoTP, I must warn you that this fic has a few spoilers. But otherwise, enjoy! R/R!
In chains I lay, like some animal just waiting to be beaten by its master, but I have no master. I am my own master, because I, like the humans, am a person, a living-breathing creature. But unlike the human people, I am dangerous and bloodthirsty, though somehow I deal with it. Who am I? My name is Alexis and I am a werewolf. Yes, a werewolf, also known as a lycan in some lands.
Sighing faintly, with head drooping forward, I stare at the cold stone floor lying under me. It had been years since I had seen my mate, my lover, I only hope that nothing has happened to him but he had probably forgotten about me, like nearly all the other people I have cared for. Tears start to fill my eyes with this thought, but I quickly stifle them back. Crying wouldn't help any.
As I continue wait the rising of the full moon, I begin to hum a tune that I had learned as a child. It was from some old American movie, but I had long forgotten what the name was. As I continued to hum that little ditty under my breath, I didn't notice that I had begun to sing the actual words to it.
Somewhere out there, beneath the pale moonlight.
Someone's thinking of me, and loving me tonight.
Somewhere out there, someone's saying a prayer.
That we'll find one another, and meet somewhere out there.
And even though I know how very far apart we are.
It helps to think that we might be wishing on the same bright star.
I pause in my song for just a moment, my lips turning downward in a frown. I had forgotten the rest of the song, it had been so long but it helped in my state of heart and mind. Sighing faintly, I look up at the window just above where I was chained down to the floor of my basement. Wherever he was, he would soon be feeling the change that I now grimly awaited as well.
Remus's POV
In the cage that lay in the basement of number twelve Grammald place, I paced back and forth, sighing heavily. How I hated this time of month, especially now that I had none of my school friends with me anymore. Sirius was dead, James was too, and Peter was a filthy traitor. How I wish I could just rip out his throat, then show it to him as he died.
No, you don't want that, I reminded myself. That's the wolf talking again.
I let out a low growling sigh, stopping in my pacing and took a seat upon the floor, peering through the small window. It had been sixteen, going on seventeen years, since I had seen Alexis. We had gotten separated because of the last war of the lycans and vampires, which the lycans had won. I only hope she is not laying somewhere, dead and forgotten.
No, you can't think like that either, she's got to be alive. She's a strong woman, as you know full well.
But still, as strong as she might be, that doesn't make the hurt less.
When a werewolf mates, they mate for life and to be separated from your mate for so long, it was unbearable.
Soon, the moment came that I had been dreading all night. Slowly, the silvery orb of the full moon rose up in the sky, sending its rays through the cage bars and upon my kneeling figure.
As the change began to take place, tears of pain, both physical and emotional, began to spring from my eyes. The only thought was that of Alexis, my long lost love.
