Author's note: This is a resurrection of an old idea. And my first posted, or somewhat finished, Harry Potter fanfic. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: The Curtain
Sirius Black felt himself become very light, as the events unfolding around him became very clear. Dumbledore stood, facing the dais, next to a small clump of captured Death Eaters. All around the room those Order members and teens, who remained standing, stood looking towards the formerly dueling pair. Even the remaining Death Eaters stood silent. Tones still lay crumpled at the bottom of the stairs. Bellatrix shrieked with dark triumphant glee. Harry ran toward the arch, dropping Frank and Alice's boy. Before he could reach the dais he was caught by Remus, who held him in a tight constraint.
"There's nothing you can do, Harry-" his voice was calm and even.
"We can still reach him-" Harry struggled against Remus' hold without success.
"There's nothing you can do, Harry... nothing... He's gone." Remus tried to reason with the boy, his voice still calm but a tremor exposed his own pain.
"He's hasn't gone!" He yelled, continuing to struggle even more against Remus.
"Sirius! Sirius!" He called, in a begging voice.
"He can't come back, Harry," Remus' voice finally broke, as Harry struggled against his restraints. "He can't come back, because he's d-"
"He- is- not- dead! Sirius!" Everything finally clicked, he was dead. He'd failed Harry again, the boy he had promised James and Lily he would take are of. And he'd once again abandoned Remus. Realizing that he seemed to be rising, he watched as a whiteness blocked his view of the following events.
