DEAD. MARIE SHE'S DEAD. PAY ATTENTION. DO SOMETHING. MOM-DEAD-ATTENTION- SUICIDE-DEAD-MOM-LEFT-DEAD-DEAD-DEAD. THE WORDS BURST THROUGH MY HEAD LIKE A VOLCANO READY TO ERUPT. IT RANG IN MY EAR AND SHOT THROUGH MY BRAIN. I LEFT SO COLD AND ALONE. I JUST COULDN'T TAKE IN AND ACCEPT WHAT SHE HAD SAID.
"MARIE! I am so sorry. I came here as soon as I heard. I am so sorry."
MY HEAD FELT NUMB AND I HEARD HER BREAK INTO TEARS. MY MOUTH WAS LEFT WIDE OPEN AND MY FACE IN AN EMPTY EXPRESSION OF DISBELIEF. HOW DID SHE EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THIS? BEFORE I KNEW IT I WAS SUSPECTING PEOPLE. THE FIRST PERSON IN MY MIND. MY DAD. HE CAUSED HER TO CONTINUOUSLY CRY AND STRESS OVER STUPID THINGS. HE RAPED HER AT NIGHT AND FORCED HER TO KEEP QUIET ABOUT CERTAIN THINGS.
"Marie...You need to listen to me. Your dad...he's at the police station. He was found next to her body. The police thinks he did it."
I FELT SO NUMB AS IF I WAS NOT LIVING ANYMORE. I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I JUST KEPT MYSELF FROM BELIEVING. I EXPECTED MY MOM TO RUN HERE AND EXPLAIN EVERYTHING AND JUST GIVE ME A HUG. IT WAS JUST TOO CRAZY TO BELIEVE. MOM! YOU TOLD ME YOU LOVED ME. YET WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME? DO YOU NOT CARE ABOUT ME? JUST THE OTHER DAY YOU TOLD ME THAT NOTHING WILL EVER COME BETWEEN US AND NOTHING COULD TAKE YOU AWAY FROM ME.
"Marie...please listen. Your dad...he needs to be proven innocent. And your mom left you this..." she handed over a little piece of ripped notebook paper.
And it said:
Marie...this is your mother. I know you must be very upset but honey I love you so much words cannot explain. I know one day you will come join me in heaven where we will live together forever. But God needs me in heaven and I will soon meet u. Continue being the wonderful girl that you are and never let anybody or anything change you. I love you my dear child.
MOM! MOM! MOM! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?
I broke into tears and I just couldn't control myself anymore. But I started doing the last thing I would've done in a situation like this. As if invisible hands were controlling me, I bent down onto my knees and began to pray. The words that flowed so freely out of my mouth were not words that I would've used. From then on I knew that this was a sign from someone up there. As I prayed I felt all the weight lift off of my heart and shoulders. I felt so peaceful and wanted. My heart no longer ached and I felt happiness. Then in one short second. A piercing scream followed by a thundering gunshot I felt a sharp pain run through my lower stomach. I said the last word "AMEN" and looked down where the pain was coming from. A bullet had pierced through me and there was a puddle of blood growing bigger and bigger beside me. I closed my eyes in pain and from a distance I saw my mother come closer and closer to me.
Marie dear come join me in heaven. Heaven is a free gift. Come join me and we shall live together in a perfect world...
