Hiei and Keiko exchanged knowing glances.

Golden eyes tracing from his cards to his opponent and back again.

"Flush," he shrugged, laying his cards down.

"Damn it! That's like 12 times now!" Yusuke's daughter pouted, Brown eyes flinging as she tossed her cards face down, "Rematch!"

"No, no," Kurama took a sip of his drink, gently stacking the cards to the side, "I believe I've had enough of family gambling night."

"Oh come on," Kuroki goaded, digging into her purse, "One more! I need to win that fourty back!"

"Oh...ok," the Fox sighed laborously, glancing over to the careful observer, "Tomoe, would you like to join in?"

"No way," the teen laughed, tying her black hair into a ponytail, "You cheat."

"Tomoe," Kuroki said slowly, as if speaking to a child and not her sister, a year older, "How could Uncle Kurama be cheating? I've been sitting here the whole time."

"Pfft," Keiko scoffed at her daughters, snatching up the salad as she went into the backyard, "Of course he's cheating. It's his deck, genius!"

"For that I am cutting you out of my will!" Yoko hollered after her, white hair falling over one eye, "What do you say kid? Still want another round?"

"Ok. But this time, we use my deck!"

"Of course," he grinned, fangs glinting.

"You're horrible," Hiei chuckled, pulling a seat next to his mate as the child ran upstairs, "Taking our own niece's allowance. Honestly."

"I'll give it back!" Kurama shrugged, "she'll learn one of these days.." As Kuroki set the deck down, he shuffled smoothly, sliding it across the table, "Cut the deck, kit." He counted as she delt.

"Ok!" She slammed her fist down, looking every bit like her father in that moment, "Double or nothing!"

"If you say so," the kitsune smiled.

A few cards. Bets placed. Yoko's poker face.

Kuroki gaped at her hand, "Damn it!"

"Language!" Keiko chucked a dish towel at them.

"Sorry mom!"

Kurama snickered, sliding the pile back to his side, "Ah youth," he mused, tipping his head back to wink at his mate. Hiei just smirked, shaking his head. Their young niece, ever stubborn, shuffled again, tossing cards back and forth.

Yusuke leaned over her shoulder, trying to give his daughter some pointers. He didn't realize that their Fox was, indeed, cheating.

Some things never changed.
