Dusty trails: An Adventure time Fanfic
The night air was light and cool, the sky was not dark, but a splendid array of colors; a pleasant medley of vivid brilliance. Indigo, velvet, crimson even yellow; it was the world's first night-time rainbow. The lights filled the entire sky.
Also on that night, in a dingy, whimsical forest, Finn the human gazed upon the sky and could not believe his eyes, because they were met with beauty that only few were privileged enough to behold.
Meanwhile a darkly clad figure crept through the trees cautiously, with soft inaudible steps. The figure was a cold blooded, merciless assassin, who had been trained to strike without warning. Meanwhile Finn, his victim, sat unaware of the imminent threat that lurked in the shadows.
"Jake! Dude! Wake up, you gotta see this." Finn called out to Jake, his best friend.
Jake groaned and tossed in his sleeping bag. Finn ran his hand through his own luxurious golden hair.
"Jake! It's awesome! Totally awesome!" Finn continued, his voice filled with amazement. "Way cooler than a solar eclipse, no kidding"
Jake ignored Finn. Poor Jake was that tired. Finn walked over to Jake the Dog and crouched over him.
"Jake my man, you're missing it! This thing is so radically epic and you're missing it!"
"Aw c'mon bro, I'm trying to catch some z's over here," Jake retorted, wrapping his sleeping bag tighter around himself.
"You gotta see this, it's just totally wack, yo! It's so darn fricking amazing, you gotta see!"
Finn fervently shook Jake's sleeping bag with his hands till Jake sat up in his bed.
To be entirely candid, Jake looked like an undead zombie. Either he was was seriously sleep deprived, or something was very, very wrong.
"Maybe later bro, I'm so exhausted right now…," Jake grunted.
"Gosh Jake what's wrong with your voice?"
"Oh, my throat's a little sore. Plus I haven't had a decent night's rest in days… I've been doin' a lot of stuff lately… now I'm really bushed"
"Doing stuff? What could you possibly have been doing, that's left you so tired you can't even take a couple of seconds to appreciate something that's so…"
Jake was asleep. Finn shook his head and smiled. Jake really was tired. It was obvious. Finn paused to look at the sky.
Then in one swift, stealthy move, the assassin struck. Finn never saw him coming.
Choking… Breathlessness… Finn struggled in vain to fight off the strong pair of hands that had so tightly grasped his neck. So tightly that Finn could not scream. It seemed all was lost, but Finn used a special technique on the assassin and broke free. The assassin, realizing his failure, fled abruptly. Finn ran over to Jake's sleeping bag and to his horror discovered that Jake was missing. The bag was empty.
