Linh tiptoed down the hall and crouched besides Tam. A heaviness clouded her mind, and the stress that built up inside her made her tense. A small creak escaped from the wooden panel on the floor, and Tam cringed from the noise. He put a finger to his lip and Linh nodded.

She had almost flooded Atlantis a few days ago, and the Council were already getting involved. Tam and Linh were listening to their parent's conversation from a locked room. The twins pressed their ears against the door, and listened.

Linh heard her mother sigh. "Linh isn't going to last in the Lost Cities any longer. If another Hydrokinetic hadn't stepped in-"

"I know. And Tam isn't doing much to help. All he does is get defensive about our daughter as if she isn't a criminal.'' Tam turned to Linh, and squeezed her hand.

"Don't listen to him."

Linh's mother spoke once again, clearing her throat. "Putting her in Exile wouldn't do our family any good."

"Well, let's see what the Council has to say." Shuffling of paper filled the long silence. "This delivered yesterday."

Tam quickly grabbed something from his cape and inserted it into the lock. A small click came from the lock, and Tam slowly opened the door. The twins could see their parents pacing in the room. Their mother was reading a scroll with the Council's stamp sealing it closed. Her back turned so that Linh and Tam couldn't see. Their mother tore the seal. A pang of fear hit Linh hard in the stomach as her mother read from the scroll.

"A tribunal will be tomorrow at three o'clock for Linh Song, regarding the near-flood that took place in Atlantis a few days ago. Proceedings will be open to the public."
