"I really don't think I can do this anymore," Anya whispered.

"Really?" Alli sarcastically whispered back.

Anya rubbed her forehead, "I just don't like lying to my parents about this, I mean it's such a big deal Al-"

"Since when is lying a problem for you?" Alli spitefully shot back.

Both of them fell silent.

Alli sighed. "I shouldn't have…that was a long time ago."

Anya's eyes started shining, "I'm not proud of what I did during that election, Alli. I'm really sorry, you know I wish I'd never hurt-"

"It really doesn't matter. Just…let me stay here another night. I'm helping you with that English course, aren't I?" Alli continued impatiently.

Anya stared at Alli for a moment, "Yeah. Are you sure you don't want to talk? I mean this is the tenth time you've stayed here and you never say a thing about-"

Alli whispered furiously, "You haven't told Fiona anything, have you?"

Anya shook her head, "No…I barely talk to her anymore. I'm sure she wouldn't tell Clare anyways, Eli's like her other twin."

They both looked at each other in silence.

Anya sighed, "Come in."

Alli faked a half-smile, closed the door behind her and followed her down the stairs.

Once they got to the spare room in the basement, Anya turned to Alli, cleared her throat and spoke at a normal volume, "Um, so…out by 7, make the bed before you go and…yeah."

Alli nodded.

Anya nodded back, "Okay. Well…I guess I'll see you later."

As soon as Anya left the room, Alli sat on the edge of the bed and her stomach started to growl. She put her face in her hands and felt her eyes water. One relentless thought wouldn't leave her head and it just kept attacking her mind: Nothing will ever get better and nothing will ever make this better.
