Darkness is all the young man sees as memories of the previous night attempt to flicker through his mind like a slideshow. Hazy images and diluted sounds are all he gets in return for trying to remember. With his eyes still closed tight, he tries to move his hand only to stop at the softest of sounds. Not wanting to startle what or who could be the owner of such a soothing voice he cracks one eye open, silver eyelashes barely even fluttering as he reveals one aquamarine orb.

He hides his gasp as he spots the source of the sound that's gained tempo, becoming more of a melody. A thin strap is all there is going across her back. With his knee propped up like it is he can only see down just to where her side begins to curve, so his eyes follow the hand she raises instead. Slim fingers comb through her short raven hair that curls forward toward her softly curving face.

The melody suddenly falls soft as her body turns around causing him to snap his eye shut once more, feeling as though he shouldn't have been looking without her knowing. But as he lies there still as a stone with his eyes closed once more all he can think about is the glimpse of her that he saw; a heart shaped face with navy fringe dipping down into bright sapphire eyes.

Cool fingertips brush over his forehead, pushing stray locks away from his face. She smiles gently at his peaceful face, a small sigh slipping from her lips as she pulls away, intending on leaving quickly. For she knows it's against the rules to go anywhere near those that walk on the shore, strictly forbidden. She leans down close to his face loving the peaceful expression stretched out across it. If only she knew where she was to go and what to do ... her mind scattered and lost. As she pulls away she scowls out at the stretch of ocean, not wanting to go back but knowing she can't stay. Her friends must be worried and she can't keep them in the dark forever.

Dragging herself away from his ocean soaked body she dips her arms into the shallow and slowly moves further out, the waves washing up around her and assisting in aiding her leave. He raises an eyebrow, thoroughly confused as to why he isn't shielded from the sun by her slim frame. This prompts him to sit up and open his eyes as he scans before him, only seeing that of the ocean shimmering in the morning glare. The rushed sound of breathing and hurried feet are what greet him next, a welcoming voice calling out to him.

Her mop of ebony hair dips below the surface of the water and peeks back up for a second glance back at the man she saved, just long enough to hear the butler calling out to him. Bubbles rise off her skin as she allows herself to sink down further. She swishes her dark violet tail, propelling herself forward just a little to get into the current. She doesn't even see the specks of gold and crimson coming towards her as she runs the part of that man's name through her mind again and again.

...ri...

"Ri..." The simple syllable utters from her lips like honey, that word being what she'd refer to him even though it's hardly his whole name. She glances over her shoulder, back up at the glassy surface of the water, and finds her heart aching to be back up there with him. Her attention, however, is shattered as her friends call out to her, beckoning her back to the palace and to speak with the King. As she begins swimming towards them she smiles inwardly, planning.

...I'll get up there. Think Xion...just keep thinking...

Just a little contest entry so that a contest over on dA keeps going. ^^ And a little something to get me back into the flow of writing again.
Used the
Little Mermaid theme and replaced Eric and Ariel with those two lovely replicas~!
