Note: I don't own Disney Channel or Hannah Montana. Takes place during the gang's senior year of high school.
Failure.
Oliver Oken had failed. Oliver Oken, the star quarterback for the Seaview High Pirate football team, had failed not only himself, but his team, his friends, and his community. With one mistake, a perfect season had been lost. What killed him the most was that this was supposed to be their year. They were supposed to go to state and win it all, and go down in history as the best team in California football.
Now, thanks to a loss against their bitter rivals from neighboring Bayview, the Pirates record stood at 9-1. What had been lost in that game was huge. The conference title was on the line, and since Bayview was now at 10-0, Seaview had to rely on a wildcard position just to slip into the playoffs.
He felt numb all over. Coach Buddy Taylor talked to his team, but Oliver didn't hear much. He just kept replaying the final play over and over again. 'Maybe if I just hadn't fumbled the snap. Maybe if I just would've thrown the ball two inches to the left. It's all my fault'
When Coach Taylor finally stopped talking, Oliver grabbed his gear, and walked through the locker room door, not even noticing the 49 pairs of eyes that were focused on his every movement. Oliver didn't see any of them. He just wanted to make it to his car so he could go home, lie down in bed, and hope that it was just a dream gone bad.
As he neared his car, he heard someone call his name. He didn't turn around to see who it was, he didn't want to see anybody right now. As he reached for the handle to the drivers side seat, he felt two arms instantly wrap themselves around him and squeeze him tight. He smelled the strawberry perfume that made itself a part of him as he was being hugged. 'Lilly', he thought.
Lilly finally released him, and he turned to face her. Oliver was surprised at himself, because he found tears forming in his eyes. Lilly, seeing her best friend since pre-school about to break down, instantly pulled him into her arms, and he rested his head on her shoulder as he cried.
They stayed in that position for nearly ten minutes, before Oliver's eyes finally dried, and he looked up into Lilly's. Her eyes were filled with concern, but even then she looked absolutely radiant. Oliver had been hopelessly in love with her for nearly 10 years now, but out of fear of ruining the dynamic duo's amazing friendship, he had kept his feelings to himself.
That's why, it was so shocking, when he committed the very next action. All of a sudden, the pair's lips were locked, and passion was flowing. They were lost in each other, and stayed like that for some time. By the time they finally broke away, they were alone in the parking lot, but neither of them cared.
Oliver Oken was happy. "Failure. Failure, was never so rewarding."
