I remember almost everything of my pup hood... It's all so vague now... Everything was green and vibrant. The trees were so gigantic compared to my tiny wolf pup body. I remember my older brother of a few hours protecting me from the silliest things like crickets and such. We even tried to catch lemmings at one point in our lives however they would always win. My father was a powerful alpha from a fairly large pack that used to be home to me and my brother; and my mother was the one who was the complete opposite. I'm not saying she's insecure but she is the one who mostly takes care of us while our dad watched over the pack. He also made time for both my brother and I.
My brother and I were out and about playing underneath the shining sun while our eagle-eyed mother watched over us. I remember how energetic we were when we were pups. My brother was always up to a challenge when it came to chasing each other. I never denied it because I loved playing with him whenever I could. "You can't catch me, Luna!" he playfully taunted. I chuckled as I ran at him. The grass was cool under my small wolf paws. "Oh yes I can, Kiba!" I responded, feeling my tiny heart race. We continued to race each other until I lunged my tiny wolf body onto him, making us both tumble onto the grass. We stand back up and laugh. "I told you so. Heh heh," I chuckle, letting my small wolf tongue hang out of my jaws. Kiba sat down and scratched his left ear a couple of times. "I underestimate you little sister. But I bet when daddy picks me to be alpha, I know you won't catch me then." he says to me. Well, who knows if he'll even pick him to be the next alpha. "Well, our uncle is older than him so he might pick me to be leader." I play, standing in a pose I only know my dad makes with my small wolf tail sticking straight up as well as my wolf ears. And with that, we tussled around for a little while longer until the sun started to go down.
Evening rolled around soon enough. My stomach won't quit growling at me. Even Kiba was chewing on a stick to ease his hunger. Mom told him countless times to not do that because of splinters potentially getting in his gums or tongue. I snuggled up in between her forelegs and onto her chest. Her silver fur looked just like mine as well as her sky blue eyes. "Kiba honey, dinner will be here shortly. Please stop chewing on that stick." Mom scolded him. Looking up at her with pointed ears, I realized how much bigger she was compared to me. Was I ever going to get that big when I become a grown wolf? Maybe. She notices me looking up at her and she looks down at me. "What is it, Luna dear?" she says kindly to me. I nuzzle close to her and hear my stomach growl again. "I'm hungry momma... When's dinner going to be here?" I whimpered to her. In response, she uses her wolf tongue to lick me on my cheek. "Yeah mom, I already chewed through half of this stick here!" Kiba slightly complained. Our mother chuckled and reminded of how the hunting party would be here soon. Oh I hope she is right.
Not to long, the hunting party had returned and we got our stomach's full of elk. The full moon was out and from inside our den, I could see none other than lunar flowers underneath the moon. They only bloom when the moon is like this and it's so astonishing to see at night. I laid next to my father, who is pure white with golden eyes like Kiba. I raise my small wolf head up and quietly call him as to not wake up mom and Kiba. "What is it dear? You need to be asleep." he says, looking back at me with a kind & gentle stare that he gave off. "Just wondering why you're up..." I wonder even though I knew what the answer was possibly. He gently nuzzles me and licks me on my wolf face. "Everything is okay, Luna. Go back to sleep." he quietly says to me. I lay my small wolf head in between my forelegs and try to go back to sleep. It didn't help though when suddenly, a high pitched and awful sound could be heard from the sky.
This particular sound scared me so much. Dad shoots up to his wolf paws and snarls loudly. I never heard him growl like that before in my life... Kiba darts his way towards me as Mom joins him in whatever this is. My tiny wolf ears remain flattened and I shook with immense fright. "They're here..." Dad seethes under his breath. Who was they? What's going on? Suddenly, our beta rushes in. "Sir! It's Jagura's ship! They're coming for us!" he shouts urgently. I felt really scared now... What is going on?! "Hana, get Kiba and Luna out of here! Go!" Dad orders urgently. Without warning, I feel myself being picked up from the den floor and being dangled into the air. The sound of lasers being fired into our land hurt my ears greatly as we ran through the now burning land. "Daddy no!" I and Kiba shout petrified. But I could no longer see him nor hear him through the roaring flames. Little did I know, that would be the last time I would ever see him...
There was fire as far as the eyes could see... The roaring flames burned every lunar flower here... Mom had accidently dropped me while trying to get us out of there. I had lost them... I howled loudly in hopes of finding them but I had no luck... They too were gone... The heat of the flames were too much for me to handle therefore I made my way through them and found a perfect hiding spot to shield me from the fire. The last thing I heard before passing out was the sound of my pack dying and howling sadly... They all were dying... Everything then went black..
When morning came, I awoke to see nothing but grey... They burned everything to the ground... I felt my tiny heart break within my body when I realized I was the only survivor of this... I sit up and released a mournful howl to the grey sky with my wolf eyes squeezed shut. My whole family was... dead... No one... but me... What was I going to do now...?
