A warm feeling suffused her soul and magic tingled in the air. The children were back. For weeks on end she had been empty, but for that, only just, endearingly annoying headmaster and the dungeon bat who refused to leave his quarters until very recently - and since had filled her halls with endless moaning and grumbling. For some reason, that man didn't feel anywhere near the levels of joy and excitement she felt at the news that her dear students would be returning in September.
She smiled as the lovely cat lady lead the newest members off her family towards the Great Hall, where the entire student body would watch the terrified and over excited eleven-year-olds being sorted into their respective houses. September was a relief for Hogwarts after the sad silence of the summer, the rushed repairs of May and of course, the battle.
Though the echoes of war cries and dying screams still rattled through the walls at night when she was the only one awake, their world was recovering and the mass of students, silently acknowledging the missing in their numbers, were a testament to the solid spirit of the people who had fought for their freedom not too long ago.
