Chapter 2: xXEmmy BlackXx~~~Feeling Small:

The next morning I had to make a trip back to my house. I wanted to grab my stuff before my parents or brothers woke up. It was still dark out when I left, letting Brit know where I was with a note on her mirror.

The fog from last night still hung off the forest and the road ahead and behind me. A harder rain made the September air significantly colder. Pulling my navy blue sweater tighter to me I made a mental note to thank Brit's mom for making me borrow her raincoat. She really was super.

I felt a bit like I was betraying my own mother, but I couldn't shake that feeling that she didn't care. Whatever. I wasn't thinking about that now. I just wanted to get my stuff and get out.

Around the corner I could see the red house getting closer. Please don't let them be awake. Please. I thought silently, crossing my fingers. One good thing about being home though was I could grab a towel to dry my soaking wet hair.

Going up the driveway all my hopeful thoughts were dampened. Lights came pouring out of the kitchen windows and black shapes moved behind the glass. Ugh.

"Seriously?" I whispered to myself and trudged up the walk way, with my shoulders slumped. This would make my life so much harder.

People were laughing in the kitchen and living room, the smell of eggs and pancakes was tempting to my empty stomach. It growled noisily. I hadn't eaten since yesterday morning, but I didn't feel like sticking around.

At the top of the stairs I sat for a minute to watch my "family". It seemed like something was going on. I saw that Jake was here with Renesmee. She was stunning. Then again, every vampire was, or so I heard.

There were several other pale faces standing around the living room. I assumed they were the Cullens. So much for the treaty. I scoffed silently. I listened closely when they mentioned a disturbance.

"…..around to the west. We caught the scent when we were moving in. Checking the area we smelled a whole bunch of em. They could be passing through, but we can't be sure." Jake was speaking to the room. My parents were there sitting with my brothers. They looked worried. This would be their first actual duties as shape shifters. Good for them, I thought sourly. And scowled.

I turned towards my bedroom and immediately began the search for my gorgeoussssss purple purse, which is absolutely giant. I loved it. I loaded up everything I needed for Brit's into that one bag. Which meant my cell, make-up, wallet, clothes and shoes. I didn't need much. If there was anything I forgot about now I could easily sneak back in. Looking around my insanely boring room, I found my purple zip up hoodie from garage and stuffed it into the bag on top of everything else. I couldn't forget it, it was my favourite.

Everyone was still being pretty loud downstairs so I figured it would be easy to sneak out.

"Em! There you are sweetie! Finally out of bed?" My mum, Rachel, was real good at pretending she loved me.

I set my free hand on my hip. "Yeah, actually I was up since 4. I slept over at Brit's now I'm getting my stuff to leave. Ok. Bye." I finished with a little wave and headed for the door.

"What were you doing at Brtineys? I thought you came home?" She looked totally confused. Yeah, whatever mom.

"No. You didn't even notice that I left, you're too caught up in all this supernatural business. And you don't pay any attention to me because I'm not a freak like the rest of them!" I yelled throwing my hand out in a gesture to the people seated in the room next to us. I sure had everyone's attention now.

END.
