"Professor? Professor Lupin?" Young Ginny Weasley asked, studying the face of her favourite teacher. When his face contorted in pain, she jumped back and panicked. She took a hesitant step forward, biting her lip as she placed a hand on Remus Lupin's shoulder in what was meant to be a comforting action. Pain ripped through her right arm and she screamed, but it was muffled by the furry paw that covered her mouth. Before her eyes, her professor turned into a monster; his pale skin blanketed by grey fur and his eyes glazing over; turning an ebony black as his face stretched to form a long, dog-like nose. His doggish lips parted in a howl as he looked to the midnight sky. Slowly, his ripped clothes fell to the grassy floor, his canine feet ripping apart his shoes as his head turned back towards her, his hand pulling away from her mouth. His beady eyes scanned her hungrily, before leaning forward and ripping at her neck. She screamed freely, just praying that someone would hear he and that they would come and help her. But of course, they wouldn't. As always, she would be forgotten; little Ginny Weasley, always hidden in the shadows. If only this were just a nightmare. If only she'd wake up to Harry's smiling face... but never again.

A/N: Naturally, since this is a prologue, it's short. Don't worry, the chapters will be longer :).
