Based in my Tahno is Bumi's son verse. And possibly a prequel to what might become a Tahnorra fic. For some reason the idea of Tahnorra is just… just so… I just love it! Anyway, a Katara/Tahno, Grandmother/Grandson story.

Disclaimer: do not own or Tahno totally would have shown up for the last few episodes, and Korra and Tahno would get together forever and ever and ever!

"Gran Gran."

Katara smiled when she felt two slim arms circle her, and her tall grandsons chin came to rest on her head. "Yes Grandson?" she asked, giving the place his arms cross a pat. She didn't shrug him off, though she was curious to see his face; there was an emotion in his voice she couldn't quite place.

"How did you do it?" he asked softly.

"Do what?" she asked.

He sighed lightly, making her hair move with his breath. He didn't continue, but Katara didn't let that bother her, he would reveal all when he was ready, her dear grandson was not the kind of person to keep his thoughts to himself, even if sometimes he should. She could admit to herself that he most likely got that particular trait from her, her own habit of speaking her mind had gotten her into trouble more than once in the past.

"Would it be… wrong, to say I loved Korra?" he asked at last, tightening his hold fractionally as if to stop her pulling away and turning around.

Katara's eyes widened just a bit as she digested that particular revelation, knowing in that special way all grandmothers had, exactly what he meant. Then she smiled, squeezing his arm and pulling away. He let her go and she turned to face him. His ridiculous fringe covered the right side of his face completely, but his left side exposed everything, the worried twist of his lips and the deep frown of his brow.

"Don't frown Tahno." She scolded lightly. "Do you want to end up as wrinkled as me by the time you're 25?"

Instantly the frown cleared, but it had the effect of making him look even more unsure of himself, a look she very rarely saw on the face of her eldest grandchild. She reached out and took his hands. "Why do you think it would be wrong to love Korra?" she asked.

His grey eyes darted to the side. "Because she's the Avatar, and Grandfather was the Avatar."

"Aang and Korra are not the same person Tahno. Yes, Aang's spirit resides within her, but Korra is her own person. I don't see how it could possibly be wrong to love her in that way." Katara said softly, but pressed on, because she needed to remind her grandson of a very important fact. "But Korra is with that fire bending boy Tahno."

Tahno nodded, and Katara wasn't sure if it was acknowledgement, or something else. Before she could ask he dragged her in for another hug before leaving her. She stared after him, and she just knew her Grandson was about to launch himself into a war, and she was not entirely certain that he was going to win.
