The past year had been hard on them, Draco and Ginny Malfoy had lost so much in the previous twelve months they didn't know if they would ever recover. Their beautiful little girl, with her flowing strawberry curls and icy blue eyes, had been taken from them so suddenly. They were cast adrift in a sea of hopelessness, both drowning in their own sorrow.

Then one day changed everything for them.

Their anniversary had been a mandatory affair, neither of them really caring where they were or why they were there. They ate without really tasting and drank until they almost couldn't feel anymore. That night they lost themselves in each other's sorrow, feeling only the other's pain, not knowing that joy would come from it.

A few weeks later Ginny discovered that she was pregnant. Shock coursed through her body, she never thought anything like this could happen again for them. She began to love the little life inside her, and her sorrow made room for that little bit of joy.

That night she decided to tell Draco and anxiety wracked her body. What if he didn't want another child? She already knew that she loved their baby, but what if her husband didn't?

Finally she blurted out the news over dinner; she just couldn't hold it in any longer. He was dazed as if he hadn't really heard her and she began to worry that he really didn't want their new baby, until he began to weep. She ran to hold him as the tears of joy and relief ran down his face and together they cried – they cried for the little girl that would never see her younger brother or sister and they cried with hope that maybe this would change everything.
