-Surprises and Tears-

The Dreams

As Buffy lay in bed, her eyes flickered open. She was gasping, and sweaty. Calmly, she tried to recall her dream.

Buffy was running from a demon. Suddenly she stumbled on a rock and fell. The demon reached for her neck, but Buffy shoved her knuckles into his face. She then got up, and started running again. This time, she ran into something. Buffy looked up and saw him. "It can't be you," she gasped. The figure helped her up and said "Yes, it is me, luv. I've missed you." Buffy ran her fingers through his bleached hair, replying "Spike I can't believe it's you!" Just then the demon ran up to Buffy, while she was hugging Spike, and pulled Spike away from her. It pulled out a stake, that Buffy had dropped, and placed it over Spike's chest. "Say good-bye to your lover, because he's not coming back," the demon hissed and raised the stake up to plunge it deep into Spike's heart. "No! You can't leave me!" Buffy yelled in terror. Before the demon attacked, Spike's only reply was, "I'll always love you, but it's too late now. You waited to long to bring out your emotions." And with that, the demon staked him, laughing and leaving the ashes. "This is your fault. He loved you. You brought this on yourself." The demon croaked before Buffy staked him. "Spike!!!!!!!" Buffy screamed.

"That's not what happened," Buffy told herself. "It's just a dream. Well. maybe just a dream that you've been having a lot." She looked at her digital clock, and read 5:30 am. Buffy went downstairs and made some coffee. "Dawn will be getting up soon," thought Buffy. "I'll start making her breakfast"

By the time Dawn came downstairs, Buffy had made bacon, eggs, toast, freshly squeezed orange juice, and even gotten fresh berries. As Dawn eyed the food suspiciously, Buffy asked "What? Did I forget something?"

"No, it's just very unusual that you made me this. And, no offense sis, but your not exactly the best cook ever."

"And I suppose Xander is the best cook ever?" Buffy teased. "No way!" Dawn laughed. "Only..Spike is.." Dawn stopped at the remembrance that Spike was no longer with them, and the look on Buffy's face. "I, I.. mean was the best cook ever." Dawn ended, her voice barely a whisper.

"Oh, look at the time! You'd better get eating and be on your way to school or you'll be late!" Buffy said, breaking the silence. "Okay," Dawn said as she ate bacon and eggs. "See you later Buffy!" finished Dawn running out the door to the bus, eating the last of her toast.

Buffy cleaned up the kitchen and ate her breakfast. She then said out loud, "I wonder what's on the telly." O Great. Buffy thought. Now I'm using his language. O God I miss him so much. Where are you Spike? Are you alive?

Buffy soon fell asleep, and had the same dream that she had been having for the last week. What is it with these dreams? Buffy wondered, when she awoke in tears.
