Careless
Promise me you'll stay, Ella whispered.
She heard nothing in response. She could almost see his face in the shadows. She could almost feel him breath down her neck. His lips were almost touching her cheek. Their legs were almost completely entwined as they lay in the backseat of his car. In that moment, they were almost something and almost nothing at all.
The sun was about to set. The sky was shades of teal and clementine, cotton candy clouds adding depth to the horizon.
When her eyes left the changing sky, they went back to his face. It was blank.
His silhouette began to disintegrate into nothingness right before her eyes. She grabbed at what was left of him, until there was nothing. Before a cry could leave her lips, she jerked back into reality.
Sweat dripped down her temples. She looked to the left of her bed. The room was small and dark. When her eyes adjusted to it, she could see the moon shining through the bare window in the corner. She glanced down at her Ralts, sleeping soundly on a cushion. He was twitching a little. She gently caressed his head before going back to staring at the moonlit part of the room.
She had always hated the Pokémon center's guest rooms. They had been the worst part of her journey so far. She felt an overwhelming sadness claw at her insides when it struck her that it had only been a week since she started her journey across the Everyn region. She remembered how happy her parents were that she had finally decided to start her journey. They told her she would be the best trainer out there. This 16 year old girl from small town Amero, they believed, could accomplish more than just getting out of bed every single day. .
I wish they knew how unhappy I was, she thought to herself. I wish I could get out of this.
What "this" meant, she had no idea. The gloom around her shrouded her until she found herself falling asleep again. Tomorrow, she would try again.
Hi everyone, Rose here. This is a short chapter because it's just the prologue. I plan on writing longer, more intense chapters. To give an overview of the themes I plan on exploring, there will be a lot of angst, some sexual content and an insight on how Pokemon and humans interact. Hence, my choice of starter Pokemon. Do let me know if I should keep writing this.
Love,
Rosewood Thorns
