Guys, I've re-written the first chapter. I just kinda realised that the original wasn't very well written. I was 15 when i wrote it, and now I'm 18 with a tad better writing skill. To be honest, it's probably not that much better, but it's definitely an improvement. SO, without further hesitation, here it is!
…
It's always interesting watching what the rest of the class does while the teacher has their back turned. You won't believe the number of times I've had to avoid a paper ball I've had to dodge whilst trying to write things down. Those were the boys anyway, the girls here are pretty much texting each other across the room, quickly shoving their phones within their cream puff dresses when the teacher turns around. I hate those dresses honestly. I don't mind wearing a dress or a skirt, but if you forced me into one of those things, I will light it, and myself on fire.
Honestly, it's amazing that she hasn't caught any of them. It's not like they're trying to be quiet. And most of them don't even do their work.
Well, pretty much all except one, actually, two if you want to include myself. Haruhi Fujioka. You guys know her right? As in the girl who dresses like a guy for…well, I don't actually know. Maybe I'll ask her one day. Maybe this afternoon.
I personally think that the teacher has given up on caring about whether his class listens or not. He was a short man, like, shorter than me short and I'm like 175cm. I expected Ouran to hire teachers which were top notch, not…this. I'm honestly concerned of the education system here. Back home, I had a crash course of so many different subjects it wasn't even funny. I a solid three years, I learned to speak two languages (French and Japanese), got taught history, biology, mythology, maths and science at a high level. Honestly, it hurt my brain. This was one of the lessons that he would actually talk, not just let up do our own thing.
Haruhi would jot down whatever he said, taking in every single detail. You guys are probably thinking 'why aren't you doing your work? You said you were!' and yeah, I know. But this is English class. It's my first language, with Japanese as my second and French as my third. Quite the perfect combination to be honest. Most of the students here are forced to take it at home too, because you know, they're rich bastards. My parents forced me to take these classes just in case something happened. And it did, which is why I'm here now.
I'm different to all the students here, in a lot of ways. What I wear is different, how I act, just me as a person. How many students do you see walking around in denim shorts and grey tee-shirts? You don't. I mean, I saw Haruhi wear her baggy clothes not too long ago, but now she wears the boy's uniform. I wonder what happened.
I tap my black, knee high boot on the ground as I impatiently wait for the teacher to begin the next task.
"Class, your assessment this term will be to perform a few scenes from a William Shakespeare play. Now you will be in groups of two. So if you are sitting in Row 1 you will be paired with the person you're sitting next to in Row 2, and so on with Row 3 and 4."
I saw everyone in the class high-fives and a chorus of yesses I heard. I look to the person sitting next to me and see a smiling Haruhi. I flash one back before she begins to talk, "We will do well on this assignment won't we, Georgia?" Huh, so she does know my name. I nod in agreeance, smiling at the girl in disguise.
The students here started a rumour, that I was mute, just because I never introduced myself to the class. I just merely sat down and had the teacher introduce me. If I talk to people, I'll make friends. And I don't want that. That'd make leaving this place so much harder. So, the students thought I was mute. I don't think anyone
"Oi, Haruhi, sorry that you got stuck with the mute." I fell two heavy weights lean against my shoulders. The twins of the class Hikaru and Kaoru were leaning on my shoulders. Did I mention that I don't like twins? Well I really don't. Past experiences have led me to be really nervous around any set.
"Yeah not being able to talk …" Hikaru starts.
"Makes things really hard to get a message across." Kaoru finishes.
I smirk and pinch their hands, giving them a pretty clear message. "Ow!" they cry out in unison and retract themselves away from me, holding onto the hands.
"Well I think she gets the message across just fine." Haruhi explains. So yeah, for the record, I'm not actually mute, just choosing not to talk just stops me getting attached to people. "You know she probably just doesn't want to talk." good job Haruhi. No wonder we compete for the top spot in the class.
The twins just roll their eyes, "Whatever were leaving. See you later Haruhi." The twins wave goodbye, before they walk out of the room in perfect sync. Haruhi and I are the last ones left in the classroom.
We pack in silence, but it's a comfortable silence before walking out of the classroom. This was my time to speak up, considering she knows my little secret. "Thanks, for helping me out, Haruhi." But, there was one thing on my min. "How did you know though?" I ask tilting my head to the side to look at Haruhi better. She didn't answer straight away, instead she put her hand to her chin and hummed, thinking over her answer.
"Well, to tell you the truth there was a like a small voice in my head that told me so. Weird right?" Yeah, it was. It's almost like she heard my thoughts. Only people like me can do that. Only people like me…but that's not possible.
"Hey are you ok?" Haruhi pokes me in my shoulder. I look at her and give a small smile.
"Yeah I'm fine, just thinking that's all." I smile at her, holding the necklace that hung out of my shirt.
"Well, you can talk to me if you want. Maybe I can help you out?" She sweetly offers.
"That's sweet of you Haruhi, but it's just," I pause, giving a sigh, "Its' hard to explain." please don't go any further Haruhi, I really don't feel like explain a made up answer.
"You could give it a try?" She says happily.
Bloody hell, what am I going to say now? "Well…" I got it! "Why do you cross dress?" I ask nervously, hoping that it was convincing enough. She seems to stop walking at the sound of my question.
I stopped too, looking back at the girl, "What are you talking about? Hehe?" She rubbed the back of her head nervously.
"You're kidding." I say with a flat tone,
"Ok, you're right." I saw a giant sweat drop appear on her forehead, which made her question me, "How did you work it out though? All of the other girls think that I'm a guy." She asks with curiosity.
"Haruhi, remember I don't talk to anyone in class, she I learn to observe things more." I explain, "You pick up a lot of things when you stay quiet." I shrug my shoulders, turning back around to head down the hallway, with Haruhi following me close by.
But before I had another chance to strike up a conversation I felt a pair of hands lift me into the air and I was slung over someone's shoulder.
"Hey put me down!" I shout, kicking my legs around and hitting the persons back, but I couldn't get myself free. This guy had an iron grip on my legs and I couldn't get out. I saw Haruhi trying to round after me but she was really slow. Eventually I couldn't see Haruhi anymore because we rounded a corner and burst through a set of doors before I was rudely dropped on my ass. I look up at my kidnappers to find that was kidnapped but the worst two people in the world. Hikaru and Kaoru. The carrot tops were smirking devilish at me causing me to shiver.
I was sitting in a room which was probably bigger than our classroom. Like, huge with white, pink and cream floors and walls. There wasn't much there besides a few fancy wooden tables here and there, with a few matching chairs. Decorating the walls were a set of three mosaic, stained glass frames. Not to mention the giant fluffy couches.
Sitting on one of those couches, was a slender boy, with raven black hair and glasses, and right beside him, there was a blonde one, with violet eyes. He stood up, looking between the twins and I, "You two know that this is no way to treat a lady. I thought I taught you boys better than that." He smiled, almost as if to be charming.
I stood up, smoothing out my wrinkles in my clothes, nodding to them, before turning to leave. But there was something blocking my path. Well, a set of things actually.
"We know you can talk." They say, almost threateningly. It sent a chill down my spine, remembering the twins from my childhood. Those twins had darker red hair, but I remember that same look in their eyes. "So talk."
I take a step backwards I surprise seeing the look in their eyes. It's almost like they were being protective of something, like I'm threatening them in one form or another. With another step back, I felt something warm press against my back. I spun in surprise with a gasp.
"I'm sorry princess," I look into the eyes of the blonde, "Are you alright?"
My stomach twisted into a knot at his words, before he took my hand and kissed it. What did he just call me?
I yanked my hand from him, clutching it close to my chest. I began walking away from these guy, walking straight back towards the wall.
"Hikaru! Kaoru!" Haruhi shouts between pants as she throws open the door, "What the hell did you do that for!"
The action was enough to make me take one final step backwards, towards the wall just next to the door that Haruhi threw open.
I felt my head hit the corner of one of the glass frames, feeling a sharp pain begin throbbing. I didn't pay much attention, considering my head was hurting, but I heard my name shouted by Haruhi. Only a few moments later, I was tackled to the ground.
Smash.
Glass shards spread themselves across the ground, some of which slid across the marble to reach my side. Looking up, I saw Haruhi, panting, almost nervously, and kinda in a panic. "Are you ok?" She asks with a shaky breath.
I just realised she saved be from being hit with the falling picture…There weren't only a few shards around us, there were hundreds, possibly even thousands of multi-coloured pieces of glass.
I look into her deep, brown eyes and give her a nod, "I'm ok…Thank you." I say, touching the back of my head. Feeling the sting of a small cut, with a tiny drop of blood remaining on her fingertips.
I watched as the teen with the glasses bent down, picking one of the bigger shards of coloured glass, examining it. "Well, that was supposed to be one of our pieces of art to be sold at the end of the year. It was worth 9 million yen." His voice was smooth, with almost no anger, if anything, there was a hit of something else in his tone of voice. To be honest, if something was that precious and so expensive, they shouldn't leave it just sitting on a well where it can be broken.
"Bloody hell," I sighed, standing up, hearing the crunch on the tiny pieces of glass under my foot. "I'll pay for it." I offer, watching the twins eyes light up at the sound of my voice.
"But how can you pay us back?" They question, looking me up and down, "You can't even afford the uniform." Their look was almost one of disgust. I rolled my eyes, before giving them a glare. They were almost right though. I can afford the uniform, but why would I want to go wearing one of those dresses? I didn't pay to come here, I was selected. Which means minimal costs. They don't know my situation.
"So, how can I pay for this then?" I crossed my arms and shifted my weight to my left foot. I knew this wouldn't be good but he is right I don't have that much money, I have just enough to keep my business open, and to have a nice life style. The money I earned and the money I brought with me might only make it, but that would leave me with almost nothing to work with.
The blond, puts his finger up to his chin and hums. I'm pretty sure I can smell something burning. "Well, as they say: When in Rome do as Romans do...I've got it!" he shouts, pointing his finger at me. "You will be the Host Clubs maid slash waitress!"
"Indeed, that way Haruhi will have more time for guests. It would raise our figures by 17.3 percent." the raven haired teen said whilst scribbling in a black notebook, before quickly glancing at me, and back down again.
I sighed, knowing that there is no way out of this. Seriously, I haven't even been here for that long, and now I'm already seem to be stuck in a situation that I can't get out of. I guess I can't really get way with being a mute. If you guys had seen me before this, you wouldn't be able to get me to shut up, and I had to pretend to be mute. So, you know, it'll be though. "I guess I don't really have a choice, do I?"
"Ok, now that that is settled, welcome to the Host Club!" The blonde seemed so excited, like introducing his child, "Over there that is Kyoya Ootori, the vice president of this club." The blond points to him the raven haired teen who was scribbling in his notebook. "Way over there, we have Mitsukuni Haninozuka or Honey and Takashi Morinozuka, or Mori." He points to the far off corner of the room where there is a young looking blonde boy and another black haired teen sitting together at a table eating cake. I hadn't even noticed them.
I give them a small wave, and the younger looking one waves back at me. "Here we have Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin. In first year along with Haruhi Fujioka." He points to the twins. Didn't really need to be reminded of that. "And finally me, Tamaki Suoh the president of the Host Club." he finishes. Why would this guy be I charge? Though, I had kinda gathered that he was from the way he was acting. "And what's your name?" I was questioned by the President.
I take in a deep breath, ready to introduce myself. "I'm -"
"Her name is Georgia Hanako, she is in class 1A with Hikaru, Kaoru and Haruhi." My eyes widen as the guy with the glasses, Kyoya, seems to blurt out my name. How does he even know that? "She is also in the Performing Arts Centre of Excellence, which includes Dance and Music." How the hell does he know that? "She plays 11 instruments which include the piccolo, flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, piano, guitar, drums, violin, cello and viola. She and Haruhi compete for the top spot in class, and she is here on a music scholarship." he snaps his book shut, showing that he was done explaining my life story at Ouran. "Oh, and has everyone to believe that she is mute, isn't the right Georgia?" He asks with a slightly evil smirk.
What the hell is this guy?
I try to keep my face as blank as possible, but I'm low key terrified, "They made that up themselves. Rumours and what not. You know, typical high school bull crap." Doesn't matter where you go to school, there will always be rumours. It follows me wherever I go, and no matter how far I travel.
I guess there are some things that you just can't escape?

Lemme know what you think!
