Who would've thought that Tony is actually capable of loving someone?
Thing is, Tony and Steve are friends with benefit. Oh yeah, who says Captain America is a prude? He certainly was too friendly in the army it even shocked Tony that he swings Tony's way. It all started on a rough night, Tony's dealing with his feeling after Pepper left him, and no one was there except Steve. That man saw him in his worse, yet he's not leaving.
Tony's used to be left, really, it's nothing too shocking for him anymore. Everyone in his life always left. Only Steve stays. Over a drunken night, he flirted with Steve, half hoping to get laid just to forgot all his problem. It's not a new thing for Tony; seduces a gorgeous blond to ends up in his bed for a good company.
What shocked Tony the most is that Steve actually said yes. It was just a good, casual sex, a one-time thing for them. But one thing led to another, and Tony found himself craving for Steve every single night after that, so they ended up sleeping together for quite some time. Tony thought it wasn't a problem since they're not doing it based on a romantic relationship, so certainly it won't interfere their avenging business. They told no one about it.
It wasn't a big deal, he thought. It's not like he's in relationship with Captain America or worse, being in love with him. It was just sex, no personal feeling whatsoever, which is nice because he's good at keeping things that way. He's good at one night stands. Fuck and leave, don't give a call, or vice versa. Usually.
So why does with Steve he felt different?
Why does it hurts so bad to see him being friendly to Natasha? Jesus Christ, that man was just offering Natasha to spar and Tony was so mad. Steve has the rights to flirts with her if he wants too, I'm nobody for him, he thought sourly.
That night, after a passionate crazy sex like it's always been, Steve was ready to leave. He never stayed with him until the next morning because they're just not meant to do that. This is just sex, it's all he ever wants, Steve thought.
A black and white montage plays in Tony's head, reminds him of all the people who left him alone. His parents, Jarvis, Pepper.. but this one man doesn't. He put up with Tony's bad behavior and doesn't even think about leaving him to death. One man that was there for him on his lowest. And never leave until today. Questions popping on his mind, What if after tonight I'll never see him again? What if he goes away from my life, leaving me here all alone to my death? What if he left? Why can't I see myself living a life without him?
Then it hit Tony hard, he loves this man. He can't let him go, yet he can't say that he loves him. Not enough time to think, and before he knows it, he grabbed Steve's wrist.
"Stay."
The other man smile, the happiest, brightest smile Steve ever showed to the whole world after Bucky died. And he gave it to Tony.
"I'd love to."
