So, I've been working on my own college assignments and I wrote this for the sake of giving myself fan fiction inspiration as well as possible homebrew D&D inspiration. Enjoy.

Rachel folded her hands in anxious anticipation. Will and Nico sat on the left side of the table with Frank and Leo on the right. Percy and Annabeth were sitting across from her. From where she sat, the Oracle could tell that where Percy was very minimalistic, Annabeth's character sheet was more detailed than that of most players.

Clearing her throat, she avoided looking at anything that wasn't pinned to her DM screen and started.

"You are sitting together in a study room on a college campus, playing Dungeons and Dragons."

Rachel nervously looked up and saw everyone raising their eyes at her. She continued despite her misgivings.

"As you get ready to leave, you feel the building shake. Suddenly, outside the window you see a giant green portal open in the sky and out tumble two dragons. One with five heads, each colored black, blue, green and white respectively. The other is of a silver-white color. They appear to be in combat. As they hit the ground, a shockwave shakes the building even more. You are knocked out for a brief period of time. When you wake up, there is no power and the dragons are nowhere to be seen. You all head home to collect supplies and meet up outside the campus two weeks later."

"That's it?"

Rachel looked at Frank defensively. "It's a work in progress. Anyway, that's basically why you're all playing humans. That could possibly change though. Just tell everyone your character's names and classes."

"But our characters presumably already know each others' names," said Annabeth.

"Just do it."

"Alright," Leo said. "My character's name is Terrance and I'm a rogue."

"Anyone else get the foreboding sense of doom and destruction at the thought of Leo playing a rogue?" Will asked.

A chorus of "Yes" rung around the table.

Frank sighed, "I'm a fighter and my name is Frank."

"Wait," Rachel said. "Show of hands, who here DIDN'T just name their characters after themselves?"

The only hands that went into the air were Leo and Nico. Annabeth looked embarrassed while everyone else didn't seem to see it as a big deal.

"Anyway," Annabeth spoke up, "my character is a druid."

"I'm also a fighter," Percy said.

Nico looked at the table. "My character is a bard named Roz."

Leo burst out laughing. "Like the Monsters Inc. character?"

"No, it's short for Rosalynn."

"Will, what about you?" Rachel didn't want introductions to last longer than necessary.

"I'm a ranger."

"Great, you guys gathered supplies. Who has what?"

"Terrance has some carving knives and a hunting rifle!" Leo's grin told Rachel that this was going to be an interesting campaign.

"Frank carries a simple bow, a light cross bow, 20 bolts, and 20 arrows."

"Percy has a sword and a 9mm pistol."

"Um, Rachel?"

"Yes, Annabeth?"

"Since when are there guns?"

"It's covered in the DM guide and this is a modern world with regular mortals."

Annabeth nodded and told how her character had a simple dagger and leather armor. Nico's character had a pistol, a hunting rifle, and a sniper rifle. Lastly, Will's character had a kit of medical supplies and a shotgun.

"What do you guys want to do?"

The six players looked at each other until Annabeth made a decision. "We check the school kitchen for food to scavenge."

"Alright, roll a perception check."

Annabeth rolled a five and found nothing edible.

"I know where we can go." Leo spoke up. Soon enough, their characters made it to a depot with more supplies to make it so that they would have plenty of ammo and medical kits. Unfortunately, it was taken over by orcs. They managed to clear out the parking lot with ease, although Leo disappeared into the bushes almost immediately so that he could sneak inside.

Frank groaned in annoyance as he kept getting low rolls throughout combat as Leo sat next to him with his die always getting fifteen or higher.

"Hey, Leo. My D20 is cursed. Think you could help me out?"

"Sure thing."

Leo rolled a natural twenty right away, but when Frank tried again, he still got consistently low rolls. Rachel shook her head at the Latino. "Every Percy has his day, Leo."

"What was that?"

"Not you, Percy. It's a Critical Role character."

Eventually most of the orcs were dead, primarily at the hands of Leo and Nico's characters. As they found themselves on the roof of the building hey were at, Annabeth turned to Leo. "So if you have a rifle, why'd you only use knives?"

"I have a rifle?" Leo looked confused as he made motions with his hands similar to cutting a steak.

"You do," Rachel confirmed. "Can I ask what your character is doing?"

"Oh, I'm skinning the orc captain's chest so I can turn the skin into a chest plate."

Everyone's eyes widened.

"What the hell is wrong with you, Leo?!" Percy exclaimed.

"Rachel, that can't be allowed, can it?"

Rachel sighed. "There's no rule against it and I can't stop him. As long as he doesn't do what he did in my last campaign, I'll let him do as he likes."

To keep things from getting out of hand, Rachel continued the campaign by having a shadowy figure appear on the roof who despite Leo's efforts, was immune to gunfire.

"'I would like to contract you to take out this other party', he says. 'They mean to bring about the destruction of both your dimension as well as the one where I and many others have spilled over from.'"

Annabeth was hesitant to accept when he refused to tell them details or even conditions, but Percy negotiated that they all get an item of their choosing in exchange. Rachel allowed this and Will was the first to name what he wanted. The Oracle immediately regretted her decision.

"I would like a bow staff that can turn into nunchucks that were also muskets."

"Say what?"

"You heard me."

Rachel sighed, "Alright. It materializes in your hand. Nico?"

"I want the shadow man's cloak."

"Fine, he gives you a cloak just like his. It adds ten to your stealth modifier. Annabeth?"

"I want twin daggers."

"Done."

"Do they do anything?"

"Find out on your own time. Percy, what about you?"

The son of Poseidon sat in contemplation for a moment. "Could you give me two rapiers?"

"So you just want what Annabeth has but longer and thinner?"

"Sure."

"Fine. Frank, what do you want?"

"I'll take a page out of Will's book and ask for a kusarigama that is also an SMG and a sword with a sheath that is also a sword."

"For Hades' sake, why would you want something that impractical?"

"Rule of cool."

"Fair enough. Leo, please don't make me punch you."

"I want gloves that allow me to meld objects together, take them apart, or mix them."

"What do you mean?"

"I want gloves where I can just put my hand on a door and make it attach or detach from the hinges or I can shape the material the door is made of."

"Alright. You have those gloves now. The deal affirmed, the shadowy figure disappears, leaving six giant barrels on the roof. Upon opening them, the found powder of various colors, which upon Leo and Annabeth experimenting with they found each generated Earth, Fire, Air, and Water with the remaining two having healing effects and necrotic effects which they dubbed purity and chaos respectively.

Nico and Annabeth left to check a building across the street. They cleared it out of orcs that were in there while the rest experimented with the effects.

"Dammit," Frank said. "My bowstring broke."

"Hand it here," Leo said. He then took the bow and restrung it using a steel cable with earth dust reinforcing it.

Frank tried to shoot it.

"Roll a constitution save."

"Five."

"The string cuts into your fingers. Your hand is now bleeding. You take three points of damage."

Frank shrugged. "Might as well try it now. I grab a pinch of purity dust and eat it."

"Why?!" Percy, Will, and Leo exclaim.

"Interesting." Rachel mused. "In my campaign with Piper and Reyna, they haven't thought to do that. Roll a constitution save."

"Twelve."

"It burns a bit, but you regain…" Rachel rolled a D8, "four health points."

Soon enough, Leo was mixing the air and earth dust with their bullets. The result created bigger recoil and more damage to the ground below them. Leo soon started combining dust types, resulting in lava bullets, ice bullets, and corrosive fire bullets.

"Hey, Leo," Frank called out. "Maybe you can try putting corruption on my crossbow."

"Are you sure about that," Will asked.

"Screw it," Leo said. "Why not?"

It was done in a second and the moment it touched Frank's hands, he failed a constitution saved and lost all of his HP, resulting in him falling unconscious. Percy revived him with some purity dust, but Frank's hands were now imprinted with the shape of a crossbow. Leo tossed the weapon off the roof where it slowly started killing the grass around it.

Meanwhile, Nico and Annabeth were running from the last two orcs, the latter of which Annabeth successfully hit with her knife. Similar to how Percy's own sword worked, it returned to her hand. As it started to fall over dead, a shot rang out, hitting the orc square in the shoulder. It got up, perfectly fine thanks to a bullet filled with purity dust. Annabeth cursed the day he was born.

Will carried a small amount of the purity dust with him to where the crossbow lay. Upon sprinkling it, the two dust types started fighting each other, stopping the decay around it. Using gloves, he tossed it onto the nearby sidewalk where Leo waited with more purity dust. He used his gloves to infuse the dust into the corrupted weapon and upon shooting Percy in the chest found that it now had better healing properties than before. Percy and Will made their way back to the rooftop while Frank watched Leo make a bowl of obsidian that had been formed when he accidentally made obsidian with the water and lava. The son of Hephaestus then grabbed small amounts of each dust type and mixed them in the pot as Frank stood off a few feet back.

Rachel smiled at the group. "Leo, roll for percentage."

A sense of unease spread as Leo announced he rolled an eighty-one.

"It's like I said. Every Percy has his day."

Rachel then described the flash which was essentially a magic nuke. Nico and Annabeth, currently inside a building at the time, were unharmed. Will and Percy however were blinded. Those on the ground took 52 points of damage. Leo barely survived the blast and nearly failed a death save. Frank, having only a max of 25 health points, was dead.

The table erupted into chaos. When it settled down, Annabeth's character ran outside to find nearly everything not human was vaporized. She grabbed the crossbow and shot Frank and Leo three times each with it. The characters were revived and taken to the infirmary.

After healing was done, everyone sans Leo started to look for a vehicle to use in the nearby parking lot. Percy struggled breaking into a car before finally calling on Leo for help. The latter quickly grew annoyed with the car alarm and started to tear it apart. Percy left him alone and found a new car that he had no trouble with. He had just gotten into the driver seat when Leo walked up next to him and used his gloves to take the door off and switch it with that of another one. Leo then pulled out was clearly a gem made of fire dust. Percy only just got away from the blast as Leo set the parking lot on fire.

Before the group could even react to more of Leo's antics, Rachel asked them all for a perception check. Trucks with bandits were coming their way.

I don't know if I'll update this or not, but I felt like sharing this. It's actually based on what's happening in a campaign I'm in, so finding weird WTF moments to write on wasn't hard. Please give me your thoughts.
