Disclaimer: I own only the plot, not the characters/settings/world, though I really wish I owned Fred.
Ginny sat in the sunlight on August 31, enjoying the warmth and the way the sun made her feel happy, augmenting the excited feeling of her first day of Hogwarts the next day. Ginny knew for certain she would be in Gryffindor. How could she not? She had grown up with all brothers and knew exactly how to stand up to people because of them. She felt she had courage, no, she knew she had courage. Had she not a few days ago told Draco Malfoy to shut up and leave Harry alone at Flourish and Blotts? Yes, growing up with brothers had certainly made her bold and courageous.
Ginny's train of thought was interrupted with the sound of approaching footsteps. She looked up, wanting it to be Harry, but at the same time, not wanting it to be Harry...she tended to drop things and become suddenly mute at the sight of him. To her disappointment, or maybe relief, Ginny looked up to see Fred coming. He approached her and sat down next to her, staring at the sky, keeping the silence. When the time felt right, Fred turned to his little sister and said "You know, this is where I came on the day before I started Hogwarts".
Ginny gasped and looked at her brother in amazement. "I was so excited, yet nervous, for Hogwarts," he continued, " I thought I might be sorted into Slytherin due to my sly and cunning mischevious ways. Though I had those feelings, I wanted nothing more than to be in Gryffindor, like everyone else." Ginny sat in complete silence, waiting for him to continue. "It all turned out ok, I was sorted into Gryffindor. Apparently my trouble making is deemed as 'bold'".
Ginny turned and looked at her brother. "I am absolutely certain I'll be a Gryffindor, Fred". Fred cocked an eyebrow at her. "I grew up with you, how on earth could I not? I've endured much tribulation from you and all the others that I have the guts, the courage, and the boldness to get me in there".
Fred grinned and ruffled her hair. "You know that's for sure," he said laughing. Fred suddenly became serious. "You'd better follow in my footsteps. It seems we've got Ron following us, but I do not want another prefect in the family, so you'd better misbehave enough". Ginny laughed. "Oh, and if you're sorted into Slytherin, I'm disowning you. Actually, the whole family will disown you".
With these last words of comfort, Fred stood up and left, leaving Ginny alone with herself, chuckling at Fred's last words, looking forward to the next day, where she would no doubt join her brothers in Gryffindor.
