Walking through the huge double doors following the light trail of flowers, KK Carson walked as lightly as she could to not disturb the service. As she rounded the corner of the mansion's backyard, she immediately saw her older cousin up on the stage, dressed in an all white suit looking sharp as ever. She could have screamed of excitement, but that would cause a scene. She was already late- a full thirty minutes- and did not want to put the attention on her. Luckily, everyone was focused on the happy couple that stood on the stage, gazing lovingly into each other's eyes. A huge grin formed on her face, finally witnessing the day her older cousin and god-brother, Jacob Black, finally married a woman crazy enough to want to spend the rest of her life with him.
"Hello, are you just arriving?" A calm voice spoke lowly into her ear. KK jumped in fright, not expecting anyone to be back where she was. She put a hand over her racing heart and turned to face the person.
It was a tall, extremely pale blonde man with short, parted hair. He had the most intriguing colored eyes that she had not seen ever before in her life. Golden, maybe? "Hi, I'm Doctor Cullen" He introduced himself after she still had not spoken. KK's eyebrow furrowed at the familiar last name. Cullen? He must be related to her new cousin in law.
"H-Hi.. Sorry you just scared me a little bit" She laughed quietly and awkwardly as she pulled and twisted on the rings on her fingers. It was a nervous habit. "I'm KK. Jacob's cousin" She finished. The Doctor did not show it, but he was surprised at her statement. He thought he had met all of the members of the Alpha's family and pack mates' family. Yet, here a random, brown skinned woman stood in the back yard that he had never heard a peep about until now.
However, the Doctor smiled brightly at her. "Would you like a seat, you don't have to stand like you were not invited" He spoke... then stopped himself short. "You were invited, right?" He asked awkwardly.
KK laughed at his discomfort. He certainly did not look like the confrontational type. She reached in her clutch and pulled out the small, rose gold tailored card waving it teasingly. "Of course. Wouldn't be here if I wasn't"
"Please, let me escort you a seat" He offered again, this time the young brown-skinned beauty accepted his offer. Once seated, KK got comfortable paying her full attention to the service in front of her.
By the time the reception started, KK was literally hiding one of the many bathrooms the mansion courted. These are her people, her family, but she was always the odd one out. Among all Quileutes, there she was... a rich caramel toned girl with tight curls. Her mother, Evie Black, younger sister to the current chief Billy, was one hell of a rebellious teen- even more so as a young adult. She met a man, Calvin Carson, in Seattle one night and she was never the same again. Calvin was a tall man standing about 6'3 with the most beautiful dark skin she had ever seen in her life. He had perfect, straight white teeth and the kinkiest curls she could ever imagine. Love at first sight, she said, but the more they got to know each other she changed his title to soulmate. Evie did not care that he had a thick accent, or that her parents would eyeball her once they saw the tall Jamaican man enter their lives. No, all she cared about was him. Her parents always tried enforcing a Quileute men only idea for her, but she felt that was entirely wrong. She should be able to love whoever she wanted to love- and it is exactly what she did. She dated white men, Asian men, Hispanic men etc. She thought she could control life if she just played by the rules, but the day the free-spirited woman came across Calvin- her game was over.
KK was forced back into reality when there was a harsh knock at the door. "Umm... one second!" She called, grabbing a paper towel and balling it up to make it look like she actually used the restroom. She threw the unused paper towel in the wastebasket and swung the door open with her head lowered. "Sorry" She mumbled, pushing passed the person and into the crowded hall. Jeez, was this Renez- whatever her name was- woman a celebrity or something?
Get it together, girl. Get. It. Together She mentally coached.
"Excuse me" A light voice spoke right behind her. KK turned around and came face to faced with a literally flawless black- haired woman with a cute yet stylish pixie cut. "That dress is everything! I'm Alice" She complimented, holding her hand out. KK let out a breath she didn't know she was holding and shook the woman's hand.
"KK. And thank you, I literally got it at David's Bridal like yesterday" She laughed. Alice giggled along with her. The petite pale tapped KK signaling her to follow her through the house and to what looks to be like the living room that was cleared out to make a make-do party floor.
"You look a little nervous, so I want to introduce you to some people" Alice exclaimed, waving left and right at people that said hi to her in passing. Sheesh, were they all famous? KK nodded and surprisingly kept up regarding the height of the heels she wore. Alice led them to a small group of men who were standing around by a table that contained different liquor bottles. One of the men, a slender man with honey blonde wavy hair, immediately smiled at the sight of the pixie haired woman and walked into her opened arms. He placed a tender kiss on her forehead and she giggled. "Babe, this is KK. I just met her by the bathroom and she seemed a little nervous" She explained. The blonde male smiled politely and introduced himself as well.
"Jasper Hale" He stated. All of a sudden, KK's whole body relaxed as calmness radiated throughout her body. She let out another deep breath and rolled her shoulders a bit getting a little loose.
"I'm Emmett Cullen and this here is my brother Eddie" A bigger man spoke up, patting the guy next to him on the chest. KK recognized Eddie's face immediately and she smiled again.
"Edward, right? I saw you in a photo Jake sent me a couple months ago. His wife's father-right?" She asked innocently. Edward smiled his usual grin.
"Actually, she's my sister" He lied smoothly, making KK's lips twist. Jacob said that Edward was his father-in-law. Why would he lie about that?
"Ohh, sorry about that. My mistake" She lied back, just as smooth as he was. Edward, however, knew she was lying by her confused thoughts. "Have any of you seen Jacob, or his Mrs. I brought a gift" She changed the subject quickly.
Alice clapped her hands excitedly and looked over KK's shoulder. KK took the opportunity to turn and she saw her cousin grinning widely with his wife on his arm. "Jake!" KK yelled excitedly, gathering her long dress in her hand and walked over to her cousin, abandoning the group of Cullens.
Jacob's mouth widened in shock before he let go of his wife and engulfed the woman in a bear hug, spinning her around once. KK laughed loudly as he put her back down on her feet. Before he could speak, she sent a playful jab to his ribs. He chuckled deeply, wrapping his free arm around his wife. "That is for getting married before me, asswipe" She teased. "Hi, I'm KK. It's so nice to meet you! I've been dying to meet the woman crazy enough to marry this idiot" She introduced herself to her cousin's new bride. The copper haired woman smiled brightly at the jab, knowing she was only teasing.
"Whenever he does something, I just think like 'Wow, I have to deal with him for the rest of my life'" The bride teased back, looking lovingly to her husband. "I'm Renesmee, but you can just call me Nessie. You're Jake's cousin, correct?" Nessie asked hesitantly. She heard Jake mention the name multiple times, and even saw her baby photos, but she did not want to make the wrong assumption. KK nodded, finding herself completely engaged in conversation with the newly weds.
It seemed like they were talking forever and that her and Nessie had known each other for ages. However, something in the air shifted. KK couldn't explain the feeling, but something was happening. The wind from the night sent a chill down her spine and goosebumps rose down the length of her arms. "My eyes better not be playing tricks on me. I know that isn't my Kaelynn" A deep voice called. KK's grin widened-if even possible- as she turned to her loving Uncle.
"Uncle Billy" She squealed, bending slightly to hug him tightly. The elderly man patted his young niece on the back lovingly before she pulled away. "You lookin fresh in that suit, fam" She complimented. Billy popped his collar and Jake groaned.
"Dad" He mumbled, clearly embarrassed at his father's antics.
"Shut up Jake you know I'm down with the kids" He replied his usual comeback. KK and Nessie giggled lowly. Billy gave his congratulations to the newly weds and they conversed for a minute or so until a lighter toned brown hand clasped on Jake's shoulder.
"My man" The mysterious man cheekily grinned at his Alpha. Jake and the guy shared a quick bro hug before he moved and gave Nessie a hug also. He whispered something to her making her blush and pinch his arm before Jake turned him to face Kaelynn.
Once they locked eyes, everything changed.
