Naruto: Infinite (Rewrite)

Hey guys, been awhile. Four years actually. So this was going to happen a lot sooner, well actually, I was going to update the story a lot sooner, but a lot of things happen that just made me push it back so many times. It's gotten to the point that I feel I am better off just rewriting the story anyway, so here I am.

I feel like I've matured in the past four years to the point that this story will have quite a few changes from what I currently wrote, what I planned to write and even how I wrote it. Hopefully the changes will be good.

FULL SUMMARY: On the night of October 10th, Minato Namikaze sealed the Kyuubi into Naruto and half into Sakura. But the sealing process went wrong and sent Naruto into our world in the 1950s. Naruto grew up in our world when one day, two people came to him for a job that seemed almost too simple. To bring them the girl, and wipe away the debt. This is a Naruto story with heavy inspiration from Bioshock Infinite but with many minor and major changes to both to have a very smooth mix between the two different universes.

Chapter 1: The Lighthouse

"Redemption?"

"I'd rather our conversation just be strictly busi-"

"So the money?"

A man and a woman sat in a small row boat while a second man rowed it. The heavy rain did not make the job or the ride easy, but they pressed on to their destination nonetheless. One of the men sat opposite the woman. He wore a black poncho to shield himself from the rain. The hood was up, but one can tell his features. The man had blond hair, a fair, but somewhat tanned skin tone, and with his strong jaw and blue eyes, one could tell this man was handsome, if not rugged.

The woman who sat in front of him wore a yellow raincoat with the hood up, while the man rowing wore the exact same outfit. The blond man shifted in his seat a little, obviously not too comfortable with the two in front of him.

"Where are we going exactly?" asked the blond. The woman in front of him merely smiled as she held a small box, only about a foot long, on her lap. She turned to the man behind her.

"This one doesn't talk much does he?" the man behind her only shook his head slightly.

"No, but when he does it's all-" but the woman interrupted him.

"-business. Exactly what we expect from him." But the man rowing slightly shrugged at that comment.

"What YOU expect from him. Me? I couldn't care less. I just hope this job gets done."

The woman turned back to the blond man and handed him the small box.

"Here, consider it a gift-" but this time, the man rowing interrupted her.

"-or a deterrent." With that comment, the blond man only raised an eyebrow as he slowly opened the box. Inside he found a .45 caliber handgun. Not so much new, but definitely in pristine shape. One can tell it has been polished, but also has seen some action. He took the rifle and cocked in back, empty. But as he looked in the box, there were 3 magazines. All loaded.

"Deterrent?" he asked as he grabbed the holster and the small magazine pouches inside the box as well.

The woman looked behind her. The rain still beating hard on all three.

"We're almost there. See that lighthouse? That's-"

"That's where you're going."

The blond found it weird how they tend to speak very similarly. Even as far as finishing the other's sentences. He looked towards the lighthouse. Now a mere hundred feet away and noticed just how isolated it was. They boat finally reached the dock and he stepped up and turned to the boat.

The woman spoke first. "Remember. Bring us the girl-"

"-and wipe away the debt." Finished the man.

As the boat started rowing away, the blond could hear the woman say one last thing.

"We won't be returning for a little while. So please, do take your time."

The blond held no expression as he just simply turned towards the lighthouse and started walking. As he reached the door, his arm went up to knock, but one small glance at the door, he noticed it was open.

"Hello?" The blond asked, hoping for a response.

He walked around the empty room. Only lit by a couple dim lights. He noticed the spiderwebs at the corners and pieces of equipment scattered in multiple different places.

"I'm a private investigator. I'm here for a job." He proclaimed loudly. As his eyes wandered around the room, he noticed a set of stairs and decided to try his luck upstairs for any sign of someone who can help him.

Each step made a creak on the old wooden staircase.

"Hello?" he again asked. As he made his way to the second floor. He sees it's another room. A single, narrow staircase opposite his side and a man sat in a chair staring at the staircase. The blond man looked on, feeling a bit suspicious at the unmoving man. He removed his handgun from the holster and pulled the hammer back. As he walked towards the man, he saw that he was in fact dead. His boyd sat in the chair, an obvious self-inflicted bullet wound showed on his head. The handgun lay on his lap, hand still on top. The man had a note, in his hand, now smeared with dried blood.

The blond man took the note and opened it. What it said sent a small chill down his spine.

'Bring us the girl and wipe away the debt.'

The man now held a scowl on his face.

"Is this some kind of sick joke?" He asked to no one in particular. He dropped the note and turned to the staircase leading to the top, gun in hand. He walked up slowly, cautiously. As he reached the top, the rain pelted him once more. All he found was a small room surrounded by glass windows. A single chair sat in the middle. A chair which, in itself looked odd, mechanical. The light from the lighthouse sat overhead, spinning still. He walked inside and on the chair was another note. Now, his curiosity at its peak. He opened it.

'Sit, and your answers will be given.'

Now, more curious than ever, he slowly sat down. He felt slightly uncomfortable in it. He rested his hands on the arm rests and just then, a small needle had pricked his palm.

"Fuck!" he looked down, a small trickle of blood was on the needle as it retreated into the chair. But before he could get up, the chair trapped him. His arms became locked under clamps.

"What the fuck is this?"

The chair started vibrating. Mechanical noises now filled the room as it drowned the rain from outside. The light from the lighthouse grew brighter. As he looked towards the floor, he saw strange writing appear out of nowhere. Forming a circle around him. Was it Chinese? No, maybe Japanese characters. The chair starting vibrating more and making even louder noises. His head started hurting as the light grew bright enough to blind him. Just then, he sees a flash of lightning hit the top of the lighthouse. The last thing he saw was a flash of light above, and the loud bang of the thunder. But, just before he blacked out. He could've sworn he had heard a very deep, very menacing voice.

'It's time.'

XXX

Blue. Blue eyes shot open. His breath caught up and he sat up from a bed. It was an old, wooden bed with some cushion. He turned his head, and on a desk was his stuff. He looked around and saw a man with grey hair and glasses fixing something on another desk.

"So, you're finally awake." The man said casually without even turning towards the blond.

"Where am I? Who are you?" The blond asked, still feeling as if he was struck with lightning. Wait, was he?

"You're in a small outpost. You're safe, trust me. But, you might want to take things slow. Things here are… different." The man in glasses said before fully turning towards the blond now.

"Different how?"

The man in glasses just smirked. He stood up and brought his chair closer to the blond. Placing it next to the bed and sitting down by him.

"My name, is Kabuto. I know you're feeling uneasy, confused and maybe even angry, but all your questions will get answered soon enough. But, for now, my master would like to see you. Naruto."

The blond glared slightly at Kabuto.

"How did you-"

"Like I said, your questions will be answered shortly. Now, get dressed and follow me."

XXX

Kabuto waited outside the door patiently. The door opened and walked out Naruto, now dressed. He wore dark dress pants, and boots. A long sleeve dress shirt that was rolled up and suspenders along with it. The top button was unbuttoned. But all this was beneath a poncho that reached his waist. The poncho itself had no sleeves, just a single hole for the whole body and the arms. The hood was down revealing Naruto to have unruly blond hair, striking blue eyes that one could tell held experience and a matured man for someone who looked so young. His jawline was slightly angular, but strong. And the three whisker marks on his cheeks that made him so unique.

"Follow me." Was all Kabuto said as he walked down the dimly lit hallway. Naruto, feeling as this is his only way of getting answers, followed suit. His right hand slightly hovered over his holster. Always on guard. The walk was silent. But to Naruto, his thoughts were full of questions. Full of confusion. As they neared the end, Kabuto turned to Naruto before he opened the door.

"Like I said, things here are different than where you're from. So just let my master speak and explain things before you freak out or ask too many questions."

Naruto just stood there and looked around.

"The architecture of this place. Looks Asian. I've been to Vietnam before, but this looks more Japanese. I'll play this game you and your master have for me, but I do expect answers. I still have a job to do anyway."

Kabuto just smiled as he opened the door. Naruto walked in and inside was a man sitting in a stone chair, waiting for him. The man had long black hair, his skin was pale white and his eyes had some purple makeup, from what Naruto could see. He had to be in Japan. But why?

"Orochimaru-sama. Here, as you requested." Kabuto said from behind Naruto. Naruto could only stare blankly at this Orochimaru. He gave no expression of any kind, save for maybe a small glare. Orochimaru sat up from his chair and motioned Naruto to come closer. Naruto walked towards the man, his guard still up and his hand still hovering slightly over his holster. Orochimaru was the first to speak.

"Naruto-kun. So glad you woke up. I hope you weren't too effected by my contraption at the lighthouse."

Naruto then glared even more.
"So that was you? What's the meaning behind all this? Why am I here? Did you get those two people to find me? To bring me here for this job?"

Orochimaru just chucked. His eyes staring directly at Naruto.

"They are… associates. I needed you here for a certain job, yes. But it's a lot more complicated than bringing the girl here. This place is not your home."

Naruto just scoffed at the man. Unable to understand such a stupid comment.

"Yeah, no shit. I'm thousands of miles away, in a foreign country. No clue how I got here and exactly why. I can for sure say that I am not home."

Orochimaru chucked again, this time, standing up and walking towards Naruto.

"You misunderstood. By home, I mean, this place is not your world. Although, one could say that this place is your home."

Naruto not held a confused look.

"World?"

"Now, Naruto-kun, you might not believe me, considering just how… different. The other world is from here. But yes, this place, this world, is not the one you knew for the last 21 years. Was it 21 years for you?"

Naruto just shook his head. Unable to comprehend what Orochimaru is saying.

"Well, yes. I was born and raised in New York. So yeah, I'm 21 years old. But why ask it like that? And what is all this ' Not your world' bullshit?"

"My my, such a mouth you have there. I can see a little of your mother in you already. But yes, this is not your world. Tell me, Naruto-kun. Do you believe in dimensions?"

"Like different universes and all that? Never really gave it much thought."

Orochimaru's face was now blank. No emotion coming from it.

"Yes, well. This world is not the same as what you have come to know. It's very different in many ways. Although, I have visited that other world a few times. There are some… strange similarities. But only in certain places. We brought you here, with help from my associates, to propose a deal."

Naruto scowled. He hated when a job became more complicated than what he was promised. But, with no way home, he decided to play along.

"And what kind of deal are we talking about?"

A smirk on Orochimaru appeared.

"Before I can explain the job. Let me tell you about this world. Nineteen years ago, a great beast, a powerful one, attacked a village. It was so massive, so powerful, that the most powerful man in the village gave up his life to defeat it. You see, in this world, there certain powerful creatures, nine of them, to be exact. They are called Bijuu. The most powerful one, the Nine-Tailed Fox, was summoned by an unknown man and attacked my village. The leader of the village, the Hokage, used a… technique to seal this beast into a child, but the beast was too powerful for one host, so the soul of the creature was split into two children."

Naruto's eyes just rolled. He slowly started to walk away.

"Okay, yeah. I've had enough of this. I'm leaving."

"Naruto-kun. What I'm saying is not just some myth. I know the other world held no such beasts or our Justus or even chakra, so I know what I am saying sounds very far fetched. But I am telling you the truth. Let me demonstate."

Orochimaru then made a hand sign and suddenly, two more of him appeared through a cloud of smoke. They both walked to Naruto, who now held a shocked face.

"What the fuck is this? Some kind of magic trick?"

Orochimaru chucked at the comment before making his clones disappear.

"I guess you could call it that. But no, Naruto. In this world, in this dimension, every being holds chakra. It is an inner spiritual energy that can be used by those who train to control it, to perform certain techniques, or Jutsu. This was the shadow clone jutsu. A jutsu that can create solid clones of one's self to aid him in either combat or just about any physical task."

Naruto didn't know how to respond, but he was feeling slightly more convinced now.

"Alright. I'm listening."

"Very well." Orochimaru continued." The Hokage took the Nine-Tailed Fox, or the Kyuubi, and sealed it into two children. But the jutsu did not perform exactly as planned. It sent one of the children into another dimension. Yours."

"So you're saying I'm this child, and this is my real world?"

"Precisely."

Naruto eyed the man down. Not sure what to say, what to do next.

"Say I do believe you," Naruto began. "What would you have me do?"

Orochimaru smiled.

"This is where it gets complicated. You see, while you have experienced a full 21 years of life, only 19 years have passed here. I had spent years working, researching and experimenting on different things to understand the different dimensions. What I have found is that each one runs of a separate timeline. Unique to itself. My associates and I kept a watch on you, we realized that we could pull you from a certain point in time and bring you back here, to this world to finish the job. We waited until you matured enough in your world before coming here."

Orochimaru sat back down in his chair and leaned back.

"I couldn't have done it without my associates. They lived in your world, but were originally from this one. They understand the technology in that world more than I can. You see, while that world lacked chakra and jutsus. It had an abundancy of technology that was more advanced than that of ours. At first, I saw the lack of chakra as a weakness. But, after seeing what the technology can do, I realized that it had more potential than I could ever hope for. So we worked tirelessly to combine our knowledge to find a way to go between dimensions at will. And well, here we are now. We need you since you are half of a whole to retrieve the other half and help this world."

Naruto stood there in silence. More understanding now of his current situation. He sighed deeply.

"I may not be a full believer in this world, in this chakra bullshit. But I can't deny that the demonstration was definitely…something. This place also just …. Feels weird. So I will help, I just need to know what I'm up against, and my resources."

Now, it was Orochimaru who sighed.

"Yes, well now, this is where things get even more complicated. You see, after the attack, a man in the village started a coup. The village, not fully recovered by the attack could not survive this coup. So the current Hokage, my former sensei, decided that instead of continuing the fight, he retreated with his forces. He vowed to take back the village one day, and since then him and his forces have been fighting a guerrilla war against the village, now in a dictatorship under a man named Danzo."

Naruto bit the inside of his lip.

"So, you want me to aid this guerilla's I'm guessing?"

"Correct. From what my associates tell me, you have quite the experience in fighting guerillas in the other world. I find your experience as the opposing side could help them out. Also, they are your best bet in retrieving the girl."

Naruto thought hard on his current situation. This was the only way for him to get home, if this Orochimaru was telling the truth. So his best choice would be to cooperate, at least for now until he can find a way back on his own.

"So, explain to me exactly what I'm up against."

XXX

The next couple hours, Orochimaru explained to Naruto the life of a Shinobi and what one was capable of. Orochimaru even showed Naruto a couple Jutsus and even had two of his men do a spar to showcase what a shinobi could be capable of. This only left Naruto worried. What could he do, a man who can't perform these acts, to even fight back? But Orochimaru explained that he has ways to help him out. But he needs to tap in to his inner power. After a long explanation on what a Jinchuuriki is and what one can do. Naruto then agreed to try to tap into this hidden power. The demonstrations and long explanations made him a believer in this strange world now.

Orochimaru put him in the middle of a circle of Japanese writing. He was told his he stayed inside the circle. It would help better his communication with the being inside of him. Orochimaru walked towards the blond.

"Are you ready?"

"Yes."

Orochimaru placed his hand down on Naruto and pushed chakra into him. Naruto's head surged with pain and as he screamed he blacked out.

'Hello, kit.'

Naruto's eyes widened, "What? Who are you...? What are you?" He then saw it. Two, large pulsating red eyes staring into his very soul. "That in itself is a long story, let me try my best to enlighten your mind, kit."

Naruto sat down, eagerly waiting to hear the story of this beast. "Well, whatever it is, this whole day just keeps getting too unbelievable. But yet believable to me."

The beast smirked before he started his story. "I am the Kyuubi no Kitsune. Demon Lord, and most powerful of all the Nine Biju, or Tailed Beasts. But my Title and my own story is of no matter. It is yours, Naruto Uzumaki, that is what you need to know."

Naruto could only stare at him, not knowing what to make of the whole thing.

"Nineteen years ago, The Leaf Village's Fourth Hokage sealed me into a new born baby, but the effects of the seal created a warp in time and space. Sending the child into another dimension. That child was you. I am within you. Due to not being in my own dimension, I was unable to contact you until now. But now, I need you, and you need me." continued the Demon Lord.

"You are no match for many of the fighters in this world. They outclass you in terms of strength and speed. You however, have me. I can help you, but with an immense price."

Naruto, still standing down, continued to stare. "What kind of price?"

"Your soul."

His eyes widened, "What? No way! Why would I do that!"

"You do not understand, you are not giving ME your soul, you soul will be eternally transformed to my fitting. You do not have much time at all, so I cannot train you. I also cannot transfer my powers to you as your body cannot handle it. But your soul can. Your will is so strong, that it can withstand my transformation. I will transfer my energy to your soul, reaping it almost. It will be the most cruel and brutal pain you will ever experience. But you will come out a changed man. If you can even call yourself that. You will be faster and stronger, like them, and your ability to learn the techniques, or 'Jutsu' of this world will be so much faster. But be warned, Kit. Your soul will forever be cursed. Death will elude you. You will forever roam these lands, forced to watch your loved ones die and move on. You will be a reaper of men, scourging the Earth in the name of The Demon Lords themselves. It is a sacrifice for one's power. For your power."

Naruto was still speechless, his mouth lay wide open. He stood up and composed himself, staring into the eyes the Demon himself. "But, why me? I'm a simple man, I just want the money and then I'm done."

"You are far from simple, and neither is she. You see, I was too powerful to just seal into one being. So I was split. You received my Yang half, the half containing my power. While my Yin part, the part that contains my wisdom and knowledge, was sealed within her. She is the Heaven to your Earth. This mission of yours go far beyond of just money. When you two are together, you two will be an unstoppable force. Legends. That is, if you accept my offer." The fox smirked at him, fully convinced Naruto was going to take the offer.

But Naruto had second thoughts, "If I do this, at least I'll compete with the shinobi here." Naruto smirked back at the being behind the cage. Ready to do whatever it took to gain this power.

The Fox moved closer, causing the water to wave past Naruto violently. 'Fuck, well that's one big fox...' thought Naruto.

"Yes, I am." the fox replied. Naruto's eyes opened wide, "How did you-" "This is your mind. Whatever you think, I hear. Also, my name isn't 'fox', Kit. It's Kurama."

Naruto stared him down and smirked, "Well, 'Kurama'" a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "My name isn't Kit." The Demon Lord couldn't help but laugh at his container. "You have guts, kid. Talking to me like that."

He crossed his arms and stared back at Kurama. "I was a Marine. If not anything, then we sure as hell have guts. Now, is this thing going to hurt that badly? What exactly happens?"

Kurama shifted again to get closer to the edge of the cage. "You will experience so much pain within yourself. Your mind will merely think you body is being ripped apart at a molecular level. Your very soul will fight to survive. Are you ready?"

Naruto took one last look around the room before he nodded. "Yes."

The fox smiled evilly at him. "I warned you."

Just then, Naruto felt as if a million rusty, rugged, needles were piercing his flesh. His screams echoed throughout the sewer that was Kurama's prison. Naruto could feel something within his mind fight to try to get out. To try to win. His skin turned red. A red aura swirled around him, burning him upon contact. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and he passed out. The red aura retreated back into him.

XXX

He soon woke up, Orochimaru still standing over him.

"I gather you had a conversation with the beast?"

Naruto looked up at Orochimaru. He smirked. He can already feel different.

"Yes. He explained to me that him and I are now connected. As if we are one now."

Naruto stood up. He looked as his hands. He felt faster, as if his reaction time had increased. He felt it now too, the chakra that is within him. He felt A LOT. He smiled. He liked this power. It made him feel more alive than he felt in years.

Orochimaru then handed him his gun.

"Here, your handgun. I spent a good amount of time studying these weapons when I first visited the other world. I have made… modifications to it specifically for you. The seals now engraved on it, if you channel your chakra into it, it will shoot out rounds of pure chakra. Basically giving you ammunition to shoot just so long as you have chakra, although, I'm sure you won't need to worry too much on that."

Naruto took the gun and noticed the engraving on the pistol grip. The writing on it looked elegant and he pointed it to a wall. He channeled his chakra into it and pulled the trigger. A blue bolt of energy shot out from the gun and hit the wall. A small hole was now on the wall. A clear blast from the gun made that, and made Naruto smile.

"Just like those science fiction movies."

He put the gun back into the holster and turned to Orochimaru again.

"So tell me, what's my first assignment?"

XXX

Naruto had been traveling down a path in the woods for about an hour. His destination was close. A small river town by the mountains. Orochimaru had told him that one of his informants was there. A man that was working with the guerillas. As he neared the town, he could see how primitive this world was compared to his. No cars, no concrete. It was almost medieval in a way.

But, before he could reach the town, a man came out from a tree. He was dressed in blue shinobi pants, blue shinobi sandals, and a blue shinobi sweater.

"You must be Naruto." He said. "My name is Kaito. I'm here to take you to Sandaime-sama."

Naruto nodded at the man and motioned for him to lead the way.

The walk to the town was quiet, but they never went in. Instead they went to the forest next to the town and underneath some foliage was a secret door into the ground. It was an underground bunker. The two of them went down and inside was a long hallway with multiple turns and men and women in combat gear moving from place to place. None noticed him, too busy in their tasks to care. Two men in white animal masks guarded the door Kaito led Naruto through.

"Sandaime-sama is inside. He would like to speak to you directly."

Kaito opened the door for Naruto, but he himself did not go in. Naruto, now inside the room could see it as more of an office. Maps everywhere with markers indicating objectives and troop deployments. A single, old man in white robes sat behind a desk. Smoking from a pipe .

"By Kami, if I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it." Began the old man, "Naruto-kun. It really is you. And you look just like your father."

Naruto, held a confused face. Not knowing who this man was, only knowing him by reputation and what was explained to him by Orochimaru.

"Sorry old man, I don't know who you are."

The old man laughed.

"Of course, we never officially met. But I know you because of your parents. My name is Sarutobi Hiruzen. The Third Hokage."

Naruto, clearly not impressed. Stayed quet. Waiting for what the old man wants from him.

"I understand Orochimaru explained to you everything. It was hard to believe a few days ago, he had to explain to me the whole ordeal of your situation and this other world. But nonetheless. We need you. But I am glad you're home, Naruto-kun."

Naruto held no expression still. But his anger rose slightly, even if he didn't show it.

"This isn't my home. I'm trying to get back home, and helping you guys seems to be my only way back."

Naruto stared deeper into Sarutobi's eyes. A look that almost seemed like he was glaring.

"So you can see my predicament here. Whether I want to help or not, I have no choice. So just tell me my assignment and we can get this over with fast."

The former Hokage sat in deep thought. He took a deep breath before sighing.

"Alright. It's we'll get right into it then."

Hiruzen walked towards a wall to his right. On the wall was a map of troop movements. He pointed to a direction just west of their location.

"This spot, is Konoha. Our home village. We-" his hand moved towards the east, near the ocean was a red circle. "-are located hear. Near the sea for easy escape."

Naruto observed the map, seeing the different troop locations and movements and targets. He fought in a war before, he understood some strategy.

"Outside this outpost is a team waiting for you. Your jobs will be to sneak into the village and find a girl. Her name is Sakura Haruno. She is the container of the other half, as Orochimaru tells me, the Kyuubi already explained this to you. You and her are the key to ending this conflict quickly. Now, your team leader will further explain your mission. He is outside waiting. Dismissed."

Naruto merely nodded before leaving Sarutobi in the room to his thoughts.

'Minato, if only you were alive to see this. How your son turned out to be. I just hope he sets everything back and saved the village from destruction.'

XXX

Outside the sun was setting soon and 4 men stood outside in cloaks and hoods up, waiting for someone. Out of the hideout came Naruto. He sees the four men and approaches them.

"I'm guessing your this team that Hiruzen spoke of?"

One of the men walked towards him. "Yes. We are." He begand as he pulls his hood down to reveal a silver-haired man with a mask covering most of his face and a headband covering one eye.

"I am Hatake Kakashi. Team Leader. This-" he motioned to another member who pulled his hood down alongside the rest of the team. "Is Genma." Genma nodded to Naruto.

"The others are Yamato, and Neji."

Naruto gave each one a good look. Taking notice of their outfits. All wore a cloak to cover their shinobi gear but their faces were all different.

Genma wore a bandana and had a toothpick in his mouth, Neji had white eyes that Naruto first thought he was blind, but quickly remembered something about a group having special eyes that Orochimaru told him about. Last, Yamato had a plate that goes from his forehead to his cheeks.

Kakashi spoke up again, "I'm guessing Sandaime-sama explained to your what our mission is?"

Naruto shook his head.

"No, he told me you guys will."

Kakashi merely nodded and started walking down the path towards Konoha.

"Well, we have a good amount of travel ahead of us so I'll explain on the way."

With that said, Naruto followed suit alongside the other three as they make their way to start their first mission.

XXX

As nightfall came, the group sat in a camp surrounding a fire. They had been walking for hours and needed time to rest as their mission begins tomorrow once they reach the village.

Naruto spoke up first.

"So, Kakashi, tell me details on this mission. You never really did tell me."

It was true, most of the time they were walking, Kakashi explained more into the events leading up to where they are now. Each person also gave a small introductory biography of themselves to each other, everyone except Naruto who merely gave a very basic, and vague introductory of himself.

Kakashi poked the fire with his stick before speaking.

"Ah, yes well, tomorrow is the Kyuubi Festival. It's a celebration of the defeat of the Kyuubi and many people are coming to the festival. It's a good opportunity for us to sneak in. We have a few inside who can help us get in easier, but from there it's up to us to both locate and extract Haruno-san."

Kakashi turned to Naruto and gave him an eye smile.

"Everyone here specialized in something that could help us out in this mission. Genma here is a very strong swordfighter, so he specialized in both stealth, and if the situation needs, head-on-combat. Neji here, with his Byakugan, can help us find Haruno-san's location and help us evade patrols and anyone who we don't want to run into to. Finally, Yamato here specialized in wood-style Jutus. He can provide cover for us in situations and help us escape once we find her. We currently have two more squads on standby because we assume that once we get to her, the whole place will go into high alert and we need to make a quick exit, even if by pure brute force."

Now, it was Yamato's turn to speak as he looked on towards Naruto.

"Naruto, I know you are not familiar with this world. Believe me, I'm not fully sure if I even understand this whole alternate dimension thing, but you are very important to this mission. To this war. There is another reason I am here. Wood style is unique in the way that it can help subdue Bijuu chakra. In case the Kyuubi's chakra overtakes you and you become uncontrollable, it is my job to subdue you before you hurt someone innocent or hurt yourself as well."

Naruto nodded in understanding to them both.

"This whole predicament is just that: A predicament. It's a simple solution. I do this job, I get sent back to my world. Simple as that. I don't care who you guys are, but as long as we get this job done, I'm fine with it."

Kakashi gave a slight nod to Naruto. "Understandable." He yawned and stretched. "Now, I think it's best for us to get some rest for tomorrow. We're going to be in for a long day, so it's best to sleep now." Just as he said that, everyone nodded in agreement and killed the fire before heading off into their respected sleeping bags for the night.

Before Kakashi slept however, a few thoughts plagued his mind.

'Minato-sensei, I failed to save your life 19 years ago, but I will not fail to protect your son. You have my word. That is a promise.' He thought to himself as he gave one last look at Naruto.

'Obito, Rin… watch over us tomorrow.'

Within the walls of Konoha, it was a peaceful night, a quiet night. Near the rear of the village stoof a large mountain with 5 faces acting as a monument to the current and previous Hokages. Near it stood a fairly large tower.

Near the top of the tower was a window with a pink-haired girl looking out into the distance.

'What a quiet night.' She thought.

A voice in her head chuckled.

'Yes, it is. But do you feel it?' asked a deep voice.

The pink haired girl made a sort of face that showed she was in deep thought.

'I feel a little anxious for some reason, Kurama. But I don't know why.'

Kurama only sighed at this.

'That makes sense, I don't think you should be able to feel it, but I guess it's nothing to worry about for now. Just go to sleep, Sakura.'

Sakura pouted and puffed out her cheeks.

'I'm not even tired!'

Kurama just chucked at her child-like antics.

'Yes, but tomorrow is also one of your favorite days of the year. So if you sleep, it'll come even sooner.'

Sakura sighed in defeat and walked toward her bed.

'You know, Sakura, I'm surprised it's your favorite day. Is it because of me? You secretly loved how I tore up the village that night?' Kurama teased.

'Ha ha, very funny, Kurama.' Sakura thought sarcastically. 'You already told me you were forced to anyway, but no, that's not why I love the Kyuubi Festival so much. It's the fireworks and the celebrations. Even though I can't go down there myself, I still love watching everyone celebrate.' Sakura thought sadly. 'Makes me a little sad I can't be down there, with people… but it makes me happy at the same time that people are enjoying themselves.'

Kurama just stayed silent. Understanding the feeling that Sakura had.

'But.." Sakura began, "..it's not just that. For some reason I just feel like this day was important to me and since I was little, I always felt like something was missing, but today, of all days, that feeling goes away a little and I can't explain how, but I just feel more at ease with myself. Is that weird?'

'No…it's not weird at all. Now, Sakura. It's getting late. I think you should go to bed.'

Sakura took a deep sigh before she got under her covers to sleep for the night. She turned towards a painting she made of a cute, baby fox with nine tails.

'Goodnight Kurama!' she thought as she closed her eyes.

Kurama sighed in slight annoyance. 'I told you that's not what I look like. You saw me before when I had you enter your own mind – whatever! Goodnight Sakura.'

Sakura difted off slowly to sleep. A smile still gracing her face. But inside, Kurama grimaced.

'Just you wait Sakura. My other half is here. I feel it. I'll be whole again, and you will feel whole again too. Hopefully soon we can get out of Konoha.'

His hopes weren't in vain, however. Because a few miles from Konoha were 5 sleeping men who were on their way to do just that.

End of Chapter 1

A/N: Hey guys, yeah so this is my full rewrite of chapter 1. The story is going to take on a much more different route than the first version. And this note is to explain some things.

About Orochimari helping Sarutobi. – Orochimaru isn't necessarily a good guy in this fic, he's just helping out to further achieve his goal and to remove Danzo from power as Orochimaru finds him too big of a threat in such a seat of power. I won't say much further from that so I won't spoil.

Many characters won't interact with Naruto the same as they would in the Anime as many of them either never met him or never had a connection with him before. Kakashi is his father's student, so Kakashi feels he has an obligation to help his sensei's son.

There are technically two Kyuubi's. Each half having it's own thought and memories and once combined again, will have memories from both hosts.

Naruto will use Jutsus at some point.

And as to why I've been gone so long, basically I was real busy with football, won a couple championships, had a few girlfriends and a few jobs that just took all my time and also now I'm a United States Marine so that definitely takes a lot of my time. But recently I had gotten back into Naruto, and Naruto fanfiction so I decided to finally try and finish this story while I can. Anyway hope you guys enjoyed this rewrite.
