Well, I've got to run to keep from hidin' / And I'm bound to keep on ridin' / And I've got one more silver dollar / But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider...
And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing / And the road goes on forever / And I've got one more silver dollar / But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider...
Midnight Rider
The asphalt was cool this time of night. Her tires grabbed the road mercilessly, bearing down on turns and accelerating on straight runs. The growl of her engine cut through the midnight air, rumbling like a rabid bear rudely awakened from slumber. She ran until she was hot, the condensation of the dawn running down her panels like sweat from a marathoner.
Come morning, she could usually get the same parking space. He would pretend to not notice if she didn't...it was like their little secret. He would climb in, nodding knowingly.
"Good morning, baby. Have fun last night?"
