"Stone Guardian"

There is a monster that is said to guard an unspeakable treasure. Day and night he has stood watch at the entrance for thousands of years. Like a stone grave he reminds those who find him of what once was and like a living statue he embodies the strength of men. He waits for the day when he will be relieved of his duty and can walk by the side of the one he patiently desires to see once more.

The one he guards.

The treasure that can save and destroy worlds.

Will today be the day for the treasure to be found and freedom granted to the one who guards her?

"Will you never give up?" The stone man asks the monster who collapses at his feet. The tomb stone has seen this monster dozens of times, but the grave can never hold him. The monster of violet eyes and empty smiles embodies the ambition and desire for an end to the world.

"As long as my kind remains I will seek the treasure and its answer to my desire," the monster priest recites as if it were a prayer. A request that will be answered as promised one day.

Another figure, a dragon, steps forward and attempts to pass the gate the stone guardian watches. The dragon represents hope and the forming of an undying world. She fights with all her might, with the child of her dreams struggling beside her. A symbol of rebirth.

But still the stone tablet does not let them pass, for what is written on his heart cannot be granted to a monster that has no love or dragon that only saves a few.

"Will you never give up?" The stone man asks the dragon who collapses with her son at his feet.

"As long as my kind remains I will seek the treasure of hope hidden by your cold hands," the dragon priestess delivers as if it is a song. A promise that will be kept.

"The day that your pride and your principle are left behind and you sacrifice your life for the one you love is the day I let you pass," the stone man narrates to his audience. He gives a heavy sigh, wondering how long these lost races must suffer until they can see their dreams realized.

Abandoning his script the stone man says something not written in the tombs, but something from a time when these people considered him a friend or at least an acquaintance. "The future isn't all that hard to change," Zelgadis says. "Lina waits for no one, but she will not let Dragons and Monsters decide her fate."

Lina Inverse waits behind these walls as the vessel of a goddess who can call upon the death or life of this world. But until the Dragons and Monsters break their curse the stone man will wait and guard the prize until the curse can be broken.

The End

Author's Note: Um . . . I don't really know what I just wrote, but it sounds cool.
