Written for the July Challenge - Summertime Surprise

Song Prompt Chosen : 'Summer Nights' from Grease

Grease is the Word

Derek peeked into Garcia's office to find her staring off into space as the soundtrack from Grease came from her speakers.

"Feeling a fifties nostalgia vibe, Baby Girl?"

Startled out of her reverie, Garcia blushed.

"Yes and no. One of the theatres that's connected to the one I'm with? They've put out a casting call for 'Grease' and I guess I was daydreaming."

"Are you going to try out? You'd make a fine Pink Lady."

"I had admittedly thought about trying out for part of Frenchie, but I don't think our schedule would allow all the rehearsals and matinees and such."

"Is that what you were daydreaming about?"

"Actually, I was trying to cast the play with our crew."

Derek started laughing.

"Oh no - that would be a sight. So - who do you think I would be?"

"Oh no doubt, my chocolate covered sugar plum. Danny Zuko."

"I don't know that I can see that. I don't have the hair for the part, but okay. Who else?"

"Rossi would be Kenickie. Emily would have been a great Rizzo. Maybe Hotch as Vince Fontaine? J.J. would be Marty and Alex could be Cha-Cha."

"You left out Reid."

Garcia flushed again.

"It's terrible, but I can't help but put him in Sandy's part. Shhh! Stop laughing and don't you dare say a thing to him, Derek Morgan or your credit ratings will be taking a trip to Siberia!"

"Easy, Baby Girl. Easy. You think I'm going to tell Reid you see him and me singing 'Summer Nights' to each other? No way! But maybe you could recast and put Reid into Danny's part. Now he has the hair."

"Hmm - you may be onto something there. And then you could be Sonny. He's a smart-aleck like you are."

"Ow. You wound me. But you know, you'd make a great Sandy."

"Oh I would not. I am not the Sandra Dee type."

"I'm not kidding, pretty lady. You could do it."

"What could she do?"

Both of them jumped a bit at Reid's voice coming from the door as neither had heard him come up. Derek was hoping he hadn't been standing there long.

"A musical. Garcia was talking about a casting call being put out for a musical."

"Well, of course she could do it. Are you going to, Garcia?"

"As much as I appreciate the vote of confidence, my dove, I'm afraid our work schedule would conflict with the rehearsal schedules way too much."

"That's too bad. I'd love to go see you onstage in a musical. Which one?"

"Grease."

"Darn. You'd have made a great Sandy."

Hotch's voice rang out.

"Meeting room in five minutes. We have a case."

"I'd better go grab some coffee before we start. See you upstairs."

Garcia's mouth was still slightly open when Derek gave her a good natured nudge,

"See? You may be Sandy material more than you think, Baby Girl."

A smile broke out on Garcia's face at that as she began to gather what she'd need for the briefing.

"Maybe, maybe not, but it's kind of nice to be pegged as the 'good girl' now and then."

Derek gave her a wink before scooting out of the door.

"Good? You're the best, Baby Girl."
