Within the Smile
Unohana
Unohana glided silently down the halls of the squad four barracks, her zanpakuto resting comfortably against her hip. As she made her way, she smiled and nodded to the odd seated officer as they bowed to her. Suddenly, the sound a small commotion in the west wing caught her attention. Brow drawn low over her eyes, she moved down the hallway to her left in search of the disturbance.

"Kuchiki-taichou, please!"
"Please calm down sir!"
"Is there a problem here?" Unohana asked sweetly.
"Taichou!" exclaimed a squad four member in surprise. The soul reaper had his hands thrust out in front of him, a vain attempt to keep the head of the Kuchiki clan from entering the room at his back.
"I demand to know why Rukia has been taken off the mission list and placed here in the infirmary." A quiet rage swirled around the captain.
Unohana gave him a calm, measured look. "Kuchiki-taichou, I am going to ask you to keep your voice down."
"What is wrong with Rukia?" he pressed again, his voice just the same as before. "I demand-"
"Yes I heard you. Rukia was admitted here last night because she fell ill with the flu. No, it is not serious however I had her stay so that she could rest and get well in peace. And you, taichou," the healing said, a smile curling her lips, "are interrupting the peace. So, I am going to have to ask you to live." Unohana's voice was laced with power and unspoken threats.
Byakuya merely started at her for a moment before turning on heel and moved swiftly away into the distance, his captain's kimono flowing out behind him.
Unohana stared out after him for a moment for turning and walking in the other direction, a small smile still wrinkling the corners of her eyes.
