All of this is JK's except the adorable little Evangeline. She's all mine.

I suggest you listen to The Peverell Story by The Butterbeer Experience when you reach the song.

Charlie Weasley and Hermione Granger

I wake up to my door banging against the door. I look over and see a shadow. Short in stature maybe 3'5". "Mummy? When is daddy coming home?" My daughter Evangeline asks. "I don't know sweetie." Charlie went to Romania to work on the reserve because they needed everyone there. It was an emergency he said. And I know he wouldn't leave us behind if it wasn't. "Can I stay with you tonight?" "Of course you can." I pull back the covers and she jumps on the bed next to me. "I miss him mummy." She looks at me her bright blue eyes she got from Charlie. "I know honey. I miss him too." She curls up next to me and stays silent for a while. I sit up ever so slightly so she can lay her head on my shoulder. I kiss her head, smelling her shampoo. It smells like strawberries, her favorite. "Mummy?" "Yes sweetie?" "When is daddy coming back from helping the dragons?" I didn't even know that she knew why he was leaving. For a four year old girl she is really smart, she gets that from me. "I don't know sweetie." "Is he gonna came back? He won't stay forever will he? I want daddy back." "He will come back. I promise." She snuggles closer to me. "Can you sing to me Mummy?" "Of course sweetie."

I clear my throat. Charlie and I usually sing this song together but I can manage it alone. I begin to sing. ""I once happened 'cross fair brothers three who thought they could use all their magic to thwart me but I, being Death, being sly blocked their path and said "Brave, cunning brothers oh what do you ask I will give each a prize and then let brothers pass." The first brother begged "Please, Death, make me a tool; A wand that will win every fight, every duel." So I broke a branch off of an elder tree and I fashioned a wand for he thought he was worthy and gave elder wand to the eldest of three. Go, brother, I bid thee goodnight I promise you'll win all your battles and fights but your wand will be stolen and you will be slain then you and I will meet again. The next brother cried "Give me magic instead, the power to bring others back from the dead." So I picked up a stone from the riverside. And I told him the pebble had magic inside it would bring back the dead and his departed bride. Go, brother I bid thee goodnight you'll see your love soon but things will not be right you'll drive yourself crazy 'cause she won't be whole. And then I will claim your soul. The youngest brother said "Death, I don't trust your ways, Please leave me alone 'til the end of my days." And though I was reluctant, he was the wisest of the three. So I gave him my cloak of invisibility. And I let the young brother go free. Go, brother I bid thee goodnight. Go take your new cloak and go live out your life be happy and healthy and when you are ready you can take off your cloak and join me." "And that is the story of the Peverell brothers." It is coming from the stairs. "They each made their choice, one wiser than others. They stripped me of wand and of cloak and of stone and I bade young Ignotus be selfless and roam." The shadow comes to the doorway. "And many years passed 'til he called me his home. But I took the other two for my own."

Evangeline looks at the doorway. "Daddy!" She jumps off the bed and into his arms. It is such a precious sight. Him bent down so she can hug him. Her, arms wrapped around his neck, head on his shoulder. "I missed you Daddy." "Oh I missed you too sweetie." "I wuve you daddy." I love how she changes an "l" to a "w". "I love you too." I look at them and smile. It is a perfect picture. Him hugging her. I can't help the tears that form and burn the back of my eyes. It's perfect.
