Naruto's Secret

Chapter one

Feeling the sunlight warming his skin, tired blue eyes blinked and opened slowly. Naruto wasn't sure how he could sleep for 12 hours straight and wake up feeling like he hadn't slept at all.

Sighing, knowing that he had a mission to prepare for Naruto pushed himself up into a sitting position, ignoring his bruise covered legs. He wasn't sure how he had gotten covered in bruises but they were there nonetheless. He supposed someone would have thought he was being abused if they seen him but that wasn't the case. Groaning softly, Naruto slowly pushed himself to his feet, he wasn't going to let a few bruises keep Naruto Uzumaki from his mission to whatever village that The Hokage had asked them to go to, Naruto couldn't exactly remember where she had said that would be. That would also be when Naruto would put his plan into motion, he knew he had something going on with his health and he was going to find out what it was.

As much as Naruto wanted to crawl back into his bed and sleep for the rest of the day, he knew that his teammates Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno soon to be Uchiha wouldn't appreciate him being as late as their team leader Kakashi Hatake often was. So after crawling out of bed and dragging on a pair of black pants that hid his bruises, and grabbing a shirt, pulling it over his head as he headed out of the bedroom and down the hall.

Naruto found his parents in the kitchen, his heavily pregnant Mother standing in the middle of the room, with his father kneeling in front of her with his hands on her stomach, speaking softly to the unborn child.

"Your brother is active this morning." Kushina told Naruto with a smile. "I think he's going to be just like you."

"Kami help Konoha then." Naruto said grinning at his parents while trying to hide his exhaustion. He didn't want his mother to worry about him when she was having a difficult pregnancy as it was. She wasn't supposed to be able to get pregnant again after she had given birth to Naruto, but by some miracle 16 years later she had gotten pregnant again from what Naruto understood she could lose the baby at any time, but not only lose him but she could die giving birth to him. Naruto supposed he was going to have to go to the doctors soon and see what was going on with his own health, he knew that his bruises and his level of exhaustion weren't normal, even as much as he was trying to help his mother out. However, Naruto didn't want to go to the doctors in Konoha because Tsunade would likely inform his parents of what was going on with him. Naruto figured that he could ask for some time off to go visit Gaara in Suna, Naruto didn't really want to do that either because he would be expected back in Konoha after a short time, and if Naruto had what he thought he had he would need more than a short time off. Which meant that his best chance of leaving would be to slip away during his mission. Naruto hated what it would do to his friends and family to know that he was missing but he knew that they would be okay. Sasuke and Sakura were so busy planning their wedding that they often didn't have time to just hang out with Naruto but he knew they would be too distracted by their wedding plans to be worried about what Naruto was up too. His parents would soon have the newborn baby to worry about instead of Naruto. Now the only person left for Naruto be concerned about was his girlfriend Hinata Hyuuga. They had been dating for a little over a year now and Naruto wanted to marry her, but with him feeling the way that he did Naruto wasn't sure that he would make a very good husband for Hinata at this point. Maybe he would at a later date, once he knew what was going on with him.

"Are you leaving on a mission?" Kushina asked and Naruto nodded.

"Be careful and come home safe and sound." she told him, her comment sending a wave of pain through his heart.

"I will." Naruto said as he lifted his bag onto his shoulder. "I need to go say goodbye to Hinata."

"She'll make a wonderful bride for you." Minato said and Naruto grinned at him despite his exhaustion. Just the thought of the purple eyed girl made Naruto's heart race. He wanted nothing more than to make Hinata his wife.

"Maybe sometime soon." Naruto told his father before saying goodbye again and heading towards the door. Naruto was already beginning to feel guilty about deceiving his parents. But what else could he do? He didn't want to stress them out anymore than they already were. Shoving his hands in his pockets, Naruto sighed and headed down the streets, he still didn't know what to tell Hinata, he didn't want to just leave without saying anything. She deserved better than that. Naruto really didn't think anyone deserved what he was about to do, but what choice did he have? He had to do what was necessary to keep people from worrying.

As he approached the Hyuuga distract, Naruto paused in his steps when he heard voices around the corner and he recognized one of them as one of his best friend's, Kiba Inuzuka's.

"Are you sure that you are pregnant? And that it's mine instead of Naruto's?" Kiba asked and much to Naruto's surprise it was Hinata's voice that answered.

"Yes, to both questions." Hinata answered softly, "I never slept with Naruto, I never really felt any kind of desire for him. So I know that it's not his." Hinata's answer sent a wave of pain crashing through Naruto's heart. How had he not known that she hadn't cared for him as much as he cared for her?

"What are we going to tell him?" Kiba asked, the conversation continuing. "He's crazy about you."

"I know, but I can't help that I'm not in love with him. It isn't fair to allow this to continue, it's only going to hurt him more." Hinata replied.

"Finding out that his girlfriend is pregnant with his friend's baby isn't exactly nice either." Kiba said. "In fact it's kind of a cruel way to find out that your girlfriend is in love with someone else." Naruto frowned, well they wouldn't have to worry about telling him now, and to hell with telling Hinata that he was leaving. They could have their secret relationship out in the open now, Naruto wouldn't stop them. He figured they would likely be glad that he was gone so that they could do that. As he walked away, his heart felt like it was shattering in his chest. How could they have done that to him. Why hadn't she just been honest with him from the start? Sure, it would have been painful but Naruto would have gotten through it, and he would have remained friends with them both.

Naruto blinked back tears, his hand rubbing at his chest like he was dealing with a physical pain. What would Naruto tell his father now? He couldn't very well tell him that Hinata had been running around on him with Kiba. He felt beyond humiliated at the thought of his own friend getting his girlfriend pregnant. Naruto couldn't help but wonder who else knew that Hinata had been seeing Kiba behind Naruto's back.

Shaking his head, Naruto found himself wandering towards the village gates where he knew that his teammates would be waiting for their team leader. He wasn't sure that he would be able to cope with their happiness at their upcoming wedding. Sighing, when he saw his teammates waiting at the gate, he prepared himself mentally to be the loud knucklehead that they expected him to be even at 17 years old.

"Hey, guys." Naruto said cheerfully as he reached the gates where their team leader had yet to show up. Which wasn't too surprising to Naruto considering Kakashi's habit of always showing up late.

"Hush," Sakura glared before moaning and bending down and vomiting. Sasuke walked over and placed his hand on her back running it soothingly.

"Sakura-chan you shouldn't be going on this mission if you have a virus." Naruto said idiotically, concerned for his teammate.

"It's not a virus idiot." Sasuke said, his attention still on Sakura. "She's pregnant."

"Pregnancy must be in the air." Naruto mumbled, remembering Hinata's conversation with Kiba. Would Naruto ever find a love like Sasuke and Sakura or would he always be alone wondering what it would like to be truly loved? Sighing, Naruto flopped down on the grass, sitting there for a moment before laying back on the grass with his arms underneath his head, within minutes Naruto had drifted off to sleep.

Sooner than Naruto would have liked, he felt himself being roughly shaken awake. Opening his eyes, Naruto found himself staring up at Sasuke.

"Kakashi's here." Sasuke said, reaching down and offering Naruto a hand up. When Naruto took his hand, Sasuke pulled him to his feet.

"Nice bruise." Sasuke said when he spotted the darkly colored skin near Naruto's armpit. "Where did you get it?" Naruto shrugged, bruises had popped up a lot recently.

"I was probably rough housing with Kiba." Naruto said, scowling at the memory of what his so called friend had done to him. Naruto doubted that he would ever talk to the other teen again.

"What's going on with you lately?" Sasuke asked. "You haven't been around much."

"I seem to remember you and Sakura being too busy to hang out with me. Now that she's expecting I know why you two were too busy and I know why you two are getting married so young." Naruto replied not really wanting to admit to feeling left out by his teammates but the truth of the matter was that he did feel abandoned.

"You do have Hinata to hang out with." Sasuke said. "I would have thought that you would have wanted to take her out."

"She's pregnant." Naruto muttered as he followed after Kakashi and Sakura.

"What?" Sasuke asked looking a little stunned at the news. "I didn't know you had it in you."

"I'm not the father." Naruto said bitterly. "That honor belongs to my so called friend Kiba."

"What the hell." Sasuke said taking a deeper look at Naruto. His blonde friend looked like he was exhausted, Sasuke knew that Naruto's mother was having a difficult pregnancy and that Naruto was trying to make things easier for her.

"You look tired." Sasuke commented. "Maybe you should have asked Tsunade for some time off."

"I'm beyond tired anymore." Naruto admitted. "but it's nothing that I can't handle."

"Maybe so but you need to think about your teammates too, especially with Sakura in her condition, she's going to need both of us on top of our game. I want my baby to be delivered safely." Sasuke said and Naruto bit back a sigh, of course Sasuke would only be concerned about Naruto's health for Sakura's sake. Which only made Naruto think that his decision to leave was the right one. Everyone would be too busy with their own problems to be concerned with Naruto's missing status. Hopefully Naruto would know what was going on with his health before Tsunade realized that he had gone rogue. Naruto wished things hadn't happened this way but it couldn't be changed.

"Naruto? Are you listening to me?" an irritated Sasuke asked getting Naruto's attention again. "Sakura's safety is more important than anyone's. We can't afford you to be distracted."

"I get it." Naruto said, knowing that he would split before their group even found any trouble. He didn't want Sakura to be hurt but Naruto needed to get some answers concerning his health issues. Otherwise what use would he be to anyone?

"Get yourself together and pay attention" Sasuke muttered as Naruto got lost in his thoughts once again. It wasn't like Naruto to be so introspective and while it bothered Sasuke, he was more concerned for his pregnant fiance's safety. A few hours later Kakashi decided it was time to stop for the night and they went about setting up their camp. By the time Sasuke and Sakura's tent had been set up and they had eaten dinner, Naruto was inside his own tent snoring away, only to wake a few hours later, to grab his bag and slip out of his tent, he dropped his ninja headband at the entrance to his tent and headed out into the woods. He knew his teammates would find his headband, but he hoped that they wouldn't abandon their mission and come after him. Why would they though when Sasuke was only concerned with Sakura's safety and Kakashi was only interested in his little orange book.

Hope you enjoy! I literally dreamed about this story before I decided to write it. Liz
