Hiro Hamada has taken up to working in his brother's old lab, the place where Baymax was built and rebuilt. Even though it is a beautiful day outside, Hiro is absorbed in his new project. As he works, a knock sounds on the door.

"Come in!" he calls, his eyes remaining glued to his work.

The door opens and heavy footsteps walk in. It is Wasabi.

"Hey little man, about ready for lunch?" Wasabi asks cheerfully.

"Uh-huh," the young genius answers distractedly.

"You are going to come out and eat with us, right?"

"Sure thing."

Wasabi frowns. "What are you doing?

"Finishing up the portal," Hiro replies.

Wasabi groans. "I thought we told you not to mess with that thing."

Hiro finally looks at his friend, irritated.

"And I told you I won't make the same mistakes. I've been working on this for 6 months. I've got a bunch of fail-safe's and fail-safe's for the fail-safe's. It's fine."

"Like what?"

"Well, for starters, the portal is only on if power is being fed to the magnetic containment field. I have a battery hooked up to the MCF so that if power does fail, there is time to get people away from the portal. Add that to the million other things I have on this thing. I won't let this thing out of the lab until I am 110% sure that nothing will go wrong and that if anything does go wrong, there are a thousand and one ways to prevent disaster," Hiro explains.

Wasabi looks at the two portals built on opposite walls of the room. Then he shakes his head.

"If you aren't outside eating with us in an hour, I'm coming in to get you." He then turns and leaves.

Hiro sighs and slouches in his chair. His friends weren't exactly thrilled when they heard he was trying to replicate the teleportation technology and have been trying to talk him out of it since day one. But the idea was just way too cool to just throw away. He had to perfect it. Turning, he makes the final adjustment. He is ready for the first test. He turns the portals on. They hum to life and remain stable. He sits and watches for a full 15 minutes. When he is sure that the portals are stable, he gets up and walks over to the portal on the left. Taking a deep breath, he walks through. When he walks out, he is on the other side of the room.

Hiro grins, excited that the portal worked. Then he looks around and is confused. Why is there only one portal in this room? Just then, the door opens and a young man walks in, with his head turned, finishing up a conversation with someone outside. The door closes, and as he turns, Hiro gasps.

"Tadashi?"

. . .

Tadashi Hamada walks through the robotics lab towards his own workspace. He wants to finish duplicating Hiro's microbots. As he walks, Honey Lemon calls his name from her part of the lab.

"Tadashi!"

He veers from his course and walks over to her.

"Yeah, Honey?"

"Still working on the microbots?" she asks.

Tadashi smiles. "Over course."

She smiles back. "Well, don't forget, we are all going out to the café for lunch."

Laughing, Tadashi replies, "I won't forget. I already learned my lesson."

"Good."

Tadashi continues, but is quickly interrupted by Gogo, who zooms past on her latest version of her elector-mag suspension bike.

"Fast enough yet?"

"Nope," she replies as she takes off her helmet. She blows a bubble with her gum and pops it.

"Still obsessing over Hiro's microbots?"

Tadashi rolls his eyes. Gogo thinks that it is unhealthy for him to work on the bots, but for him, it keeps his little brother close. He keeps walking.

"You know why I do it, Gogo."

"I still say it's not healthy."

Tadashi opens his door, faces the adrenaline junky and smiles.

"And I have told you I'm doing it anyway."

Gogo rolls her eyes and Tadashi closes the door. As he turns, he hears a gasp and a familiar voice say out his name.

"Tadashi?"

Tadashi freezes. Standing in front of him is his little brother. The little brother who died almost a year ago.
