A/N: Lovely bit of acting by Owain Yeoman! It's too bad subtle performances don't usually get Emmy nods. But, that ending, with Jane and LaRoche was a thing of beauty, almost on par with "Blinking Red Light," when we see the enormity of what Jane did AFTER the fact. And then a reminder that Jane still had blackmail material over LaRoche. Yay for continuity and brilliant writing!
Anyway, I chose to focus on Rigsby in this tag for a change. Enjoy.
Episode Tag: "Blood Feud," 5x4
Rigsby had just put Ben in his crib when a knock came on his door. He immediately flashed back to his arrest earlier, and his heart involuntarily picked up speed. When he looked through the peephole, he was relieved to see that it was only Cho. Rigsby opened the door.
"Hey, my TV's out," Cho lied. "I'm here to watch the game." He held up a large pizza box and a six-pack of beer as if they were admission tickets. Rigsby stood a moment in trancelike silence.
"Can I come in? It's got extra pepperoni."
"Yeah, uh, sure." Rigsby woke up and stepped aside.
Cho came in and set the pizza on the coffee table, then grabbed two beers and made himself at home on the couch in front of Rigsby's large flat screen. Rigsby walked numbly to the couch and sat down, automatically taking the beer Cho had silently offered him.
"Thanks. I'm not really in the mood for a football game," Rigsby said. "And I just got Ben down…"
Cho ignored him and found the remote control, tuning it quickly to the Raiders game, already in full swing.
"That's okay. I just need to borrow your TV for a couple hours."
Cho took a swig of beer, then opened the pizza box. Rigsby noted dispassionately that it did seem to have extra pepperoni, and extra cheese too. Cho took up a slice in his free hand and bit off the pointy end.
The Raiders got an interception and Cho softly exclaimed, "Yes!" As far as cheers went, that was about as loud as Cho ever got.
"My father didn't want me to play baseball," Cho said, his eyes still focused on the game. "That's why I joined the Playboys-spite. I hated him until the day he died."
Rigsby looked over at his friend with intense interest; Cho so rarely shared personal information.
"Then I joined the Army."
"He never knew you'd changed?"
"No."
Cho finished his slice and took another drink.
"Sorry, man," Rigsby said softly.
Cho shrugged. "I didn't do it for him."
Rigsby brought his own bottle to his lips, trying to interpret Cho's usual enigmatic delivery.
"Someday," Cho continued, much to his friend's surprise. "I might have a son of my own."
Cho grabbed another slice of pizza and sat back on the couch, turning his full attention to the Raiders. He'd said his piece; if Rigsby needed further explanation, he would never get it.
"Huh," grunted Rigsby, then leaned forward toward the pizza box, selecting the largest piece. "You think the Raiders have a shot?" he asked Cho around a full mouth.
"Only if they brought guns," replied Cho.
Rigsby nearly choked on his pizza, but it was the first laugh he'd had in days.
A/N: I know. This was short. But I hope I can get away with that on a tag. Thanks for reading. And boy am I stoked about "Red Dawn!"
