She sees the golden swirl of time collect around him like a nebula around gravity well. She watches the barely-corporeal boa constrictor as it wraps around his heart and slowly poisons his love and his mercy. She strains against the bounds of her power as everything and everyone is taken from him. She agonized as the good he did was countered time and time again. She felt the fire and ice and rage course through his veins no matter how many times he regenerated; always waiting to be unleashed on those who dared try him. She screams when she sees his mercy finally give away against Gallifrey. She can feel the apathy towards his planet fade and the horrified realization takeover. She mourns her little Time Lord as he collapses under the weight of his nightmares and his loneliness.
The avatar of time had long watched her most devoted traveler. She had been with him every step of the way, just over his shoulder as he solved the problems that plagued the people he meet in his journeys. The people her daughter had guided her time lord to. She had seen the agony that would befall him soon; and even if she were able to change his fate, the Doctor would not let her, for it would doom the whole of existence. Her daughter had more than assured her of if she had had any doubts. But she would not leave her time lord to suffer alone.
So she wove her web of time lines not yet in existence and waited for the perfect time to place it into the already existing strings of time. As he approached his doom she found the perfect time to run to him.
She had been outside the realm of her power for so long, that existing in one time seemed like being able to see; but not hear. She had reached out to view the strings of time that she had been encompassed in previously but found them beyond her grasp. She looked into her memories and found them colorless and washed out, the only things clear: her doctor and her human life.
She went about a normal human life; eventually forgetting her status; but, she never lost the feeling of complete and utter wrongness that had settled in her bones. However; when the word 'run' was whispered and a hand-that-fit-hers-perfectly encompassed her trembling fingers, that feeling disappeared. Everything seemed brighter and livelier. Even before she entered the TARDIS she could feel the song of time echoing in the back of her mind. Saying no the first time he asked had nearly killed her. The song in the back of her head had gone quiet and even before he stepped back into his box the world dulled and she knew she had made a fatal mistake. But when he came backā¦he hadn't needed to say anything.
She traveled with the strange man that she didn't even know the real name of and she did so because for once, she felt alive. Even with all the dangers chasing them, she never felt more safe. But when those dangers threatened to claim her time lord, she went to the TARDIS and she saw gold. She took a deep breath as the power of time fused to her DNA again. She watched as the timelines danced at the edges of her sight while her daughters' songs echoed in the back of her head from all across existence.
When she opened her eyes; they flared with her power. Time trembled as her mistress's rage made itself known. Her doctor was in danger and the Daleks would feel her wrath.
For she is the Avatar of Time. She is the power behind the Oncoming Storm. She is the guardian of the Doctor. She is Rose Tyler.
