The Nightmare Begins
. . .
"It's not...
easy having yourself a good time
Greasing up those bets and betters
Watching out they don't four-letter"
On a barren patch of rock, floating in a shifting multicolored void, with ominous lyrics coming from out of thin air.
"Punch and kiss you both at the same time
Smells like something I've forgotten
Curled up died and now it's rotten"
Sitting all nonchalant, legs hanging over the edge, swing in tune with the music.
"I'm not a gangster tonight
Don't wanna be a bad guy
I'm just a loner baby
And now you've gotten in my way"
A boy, 12 years of age, golden blonde locks, steampunk themed threads, singing along with the invisible chorus.
"I can't decide
Whether you should live or…!"
He abruptly stops, now aware of the audience's presence.
"Oh hello,
I know, right!
Who's dark, twisted, brooding mind did I have to pull an Inception in, just to find the only exit out of this hellhole and into the multi-verse that is fanfiction?
Well… I can't tell you, but her name distinctly rhymes with Nancy Neath.
And yes!
All hell would break loose, if she ever found out I did.
But I'm pretty sure, my quick in and out won't leave too many telltale signs as a result."
(short nervous laughter)
"Right?"
Meanwhile
An all-too-familiar black robed skeleton, enjoying the morning paper, asked his wife.
"Honey, why are ya humming and not scowling?"
A brief pause of silence, followed by da rise of dark, menacing aura later.
"William."
Back to the boy
"Oh well, no point dwelling on the past now.
I got places to be, a universal to screw with, and oh. Oh!
Last-minute opportunity a knocking."
Moving quickly, the energetic youth, places a small unmarked package where he was previously sitting and proceeds a good distance away, in line with it and a tear like portal in the sky.
"Only on the last Day of the Dead.
Our hero lines up the shot and..."
In a dash of speed, and a grin on his face, he runs forth and punts the package into the vortex,
Grinning even more, as the package splits into individual units and spread to every visible point or line within the portal. He begins a menacing cackle.
"Ha, the multi-verse is busted…"
And as he turns to leave, an ominous chorus cries out in reply.
"There are those…
who can't be…
trusted!"
