He turned towards her window, with a cigarette between his lips and a void in his heart, and knew that this wasn't the end of their relationship. Boy, was he right.
Mindy's POV
Dr Mindy Lahiri woke up like every other day. She woke up at 7, checked the bed to see if she spent the night with anyone, washed up and took the subway to work. It had been 2 months since she split up with Danny Castellano, her colleague/ex-boyfriend who she was still very much in love with. Although she was still angry with him for breaking up with her just because he was quote "scared to lose her as a friend", she wanted him badly. Every time she was in the same room as him, she wondered what it would feel like to kiss that man pony again. Whenever she saw him with a woman, she would feel her heart drop, like literally, to the ground. She always wondered whether Danny felt the same way.
Danny's POV
Danny erased yet another drafted message on his phone. He had done that so many times since he and Mindy broke up. It was always, "Hey Min. I'm sorry for what I did to you. Could I swing by your house later?" or "Hey Min. I love you. Let's just pick up where we left off, okay?" but he could never bear sending it to her, not out of fear of commitment, but out of fear of rejection. He would never forgive himself for ever losing a loyal friend like Mindy but every time he looked at her, he wanted to pin her up against the wall like all the other times. But she hardly ever looked at him so he pre-occupied himself with other women but in his heart, he knew no one would ever match Mindy.
Mindy's POV
"Hey Danny. Could you come and help me diagnose this patient?" She couldn't help but stare as Danny sashayed (yes, cliché, I know) to her room. "Yeah, what's up?" he asked. "Okay, this patient has a problem with water birth." she rambled on. They discussed only briefly before he got a text on his phone. "Oh shit! My brother's boyfriend was in an accident," Danny said, with an urgent tone. "Oh my god! Uhh.. I can take care of your patients while you are at the hospital." "Thanks, Min. I owe you one," said Danny, turning around. "Wait, Danny," Mindy said before hugging him tightly. "I hope he's okay," she whispered into his ear.
